Publisher's summary

Personal trainer Rebecca McCall is furious when her coworker is sidelined and she's forced to teach the “Be Your Best Bride” class. As if being a size two for your wedding photos is all for which exercise is good. Could the whole thing get more vain and sexist?

The class is full of preening, giggling bridezillas, but one woman stands out: the one who confesses she's only there because her fiancée signed her up. Who does that to someone about whom they care? And why can't Rebecca take her eyes off her?

Spencer Thompson is a second-guesser. After making the worst mistake of her life, she's happy to abdicate responsibility and let other people make her decisions for her. She's always felt a little bit too soft, a little bit too curvy in all the wrong places. Her fiancée apparently agrees because she signed Spencer up for a class at the gym.

Terrified by the online profile of the instructor, the epitome of zero body fat, Spencer is relieved to find someone new, and realistic-looking, leading the class. Except the instructor seems to hate her, and Spencer has no idea why.

When a perfectly innocent post-workout smoothie leads to an earth-shattering kiss, Rebecca wonders if she's been wrong all along, and Spencer is challenged to make another decision that could change her life forever.

Spoiler alert!!!!!

I finished this book 16 hours ago and it's taken me this long to decide what I want to say here. During the entire book I kept thinking, "OMG this is one of the best books. I am gonna leave a hella review." When the book was done, I wasn't sure that was still the case. This is the second book in 3 days that I have listened to by this narrator. I actually searched her because the other book was done so well. She did not disappoint during this book. She was fantastic. The characters were lovable and you could just feel the chemistry between them. The other characters were just as lovable and added to the story nicely. Here is my issue. You keep watching the chapters go by and its Spencer not choosing. They are together once, and it's brief. As the book ending is drawing near you think, "Dear God are they not going to get together?" They do, but its in the final page. You never get to see them together, happy or not. There is no view of them with each other or declarations of love. I loved this book but that fact, and the fact that Spencer had a chance to choose and she chose the other woman, left an unexpected bad taste in my mouth. Suddenly I went from loving it, to being pretty disappointed in the fact she didn't choose the main love interest, but it was chosen for her.

Excellent Audio!

I really enjoyed The Shape of You by Georgia Beers. Yes, the reason for the class is border line insulting to all women. But fortunately Trainer Rebecca manages to make the class enjoyable and informative for all. Lori Prince does an excellent job with the narration.

Tender Sweet Awesome

Wow! This has to be my 2nd best from Beers (1st is The Do Over) Such a tender love connection between the two and Beers did soo well bringing out Spencer's inner struggles, touched some nerve.
And not forgetting Lori, brilliant as always.. please do more lesflic books.. Wish could have added more between the two post Spencer's struggles.. want more and more and more of these two.

Boot Camp for Brides.

A get in shape class for brides to be becomes an awakening for Spencer Thompson. Rebecca McCall is not happy about teaching the class but finally revised it to her liking. A great story about fitness and finding yourself. Great performance.

Awesome!

The two main characters were my favorite! I wish Georgia Beers would elaborate on their relationship with a sequel. She’s easily becoming one of my favorite writers. The narrator brought all of the characters to life perfectly.

Good story

The story was a little drawn out , the narrator was awesome and very believable, good pace and gentle on the ear, and great voices.
I really enjoyed it , I would of hoped to hear more about the development of their relationship and how it grew into an equal partnership.

Boring

I have quite a few Georgia Beers Audiobooks & this by far is the worst. I kept waiting for something to grip me & it took to near the end & by then I didn't care. Lori Prince narration is as usual fantastic. Its just the story wasn't for me.

A weird one

When I read the synopsis for this book I expected to really dislike the fiance, like Spencer and raise an eyebrow at Rebecca's initial behaviour. I was correct in that assumption. However, as the book progressed I really started to get irritated with Spencer's character; the dithering, wishy-washy attitude was fast becoming annoying and I started to see both the other characters more favourably. By the end of the book I somewhat respected Marty for the way she handled things, became more understanding of Rebecca's point of view but it left me with an eyebrow raise at Spencer. As I said, this story is a weird one. I have many other books by this author and have enjoyed them for the most part but this one isn't on my list of favourites purely because of Spencer's attitude.

I did however like the side characters in this book, Nick, Zoe and Lucy especially. If you don't mind a wishy-washy mindset then you will probably like this book. The narrator is excellent as always.

Great story

The story was great but the narrators pitch is too high and pace too fast to grasp what’s going on. Sorry

Could not finish

I struggled to get into this book because of the awful narration.. I felt the story was read with very little commitment.

Romance for health nuts

My first foray into F/F romance... It was not a bad story, I kept listening until the end, although I found the second half to be a real slog to get through.

The characters were okay, I really loved the side character Lucy, but honestly the two leads Rebecca and Spencer were a bit boring and forgettable. Particularly Spencer... I just thought she was too waffly and indecisive and I found her behaviour frustrating.

Also there was a plot point that I found to be a bit too much “in your face”... (the health scare).... I get it, the main character is a fitness instructor, but I felt it was laid on a bit too thick, the idea that eating junk is bad was just really over done.

Also the whole idea that Spencer was “just not very toned” instead of being full on fat was a bit annoying too. Like couldn’t she have actually been chubby or even (gasp!) overweight?! Or is romance for only the fit people?

The more I think about it, the more this book annoyed me.

Give it a go if you like other books by this author, or if you are a fitness guru who likes their romance with no flabby bits, but if you’re not fit and prefer burgers to lettuce maybe give it a miss...
