Publisher's Summary

Reaching level five has allowed Ruwen to stay hidden from the gods and their minions. He just needs to survive the new Ascendant orientation, and he can finally look for his parents. But a secret discovered during orientation rocks Ruwen’s understanding and forces him to face the power of his Cultivation. He finds answers in the Black Pyramid, along with dozens of new questions.

With new knowledge, Ruwen works even harder to gain the skills and abilities to battle those who wish him harm. But a betrayal shatters his world, endangering him and his friends. Even if Ruwen survives the aftermath, he may never recover from the terrible truths that are revealed.

Because the only thing worse than being betrayed is being betrayed twice.

Quality Content

TLDR; Please take my money, need book 3!

Solid performance through and through. I'm a big fan of the Divine Dungeon series by Dakota Krout. This series has some interesting crossover concepts with that series that I found very pleasing. I love the versatility of the worker class and the tiered story that's being built up.

Wow.... just wow this was worth every penny

The system/plot/character development/action are fantasticThe interplay between the characters are fantastic. Travis Baldree is amazing as always. The MC perfectly amount of broken. He is not as dependent on his friends this book and almost dies all the time. I this it is great that he doesn't have a luck stat because it would be through the roof. But all that aside I love lit rpg from apocalypse too SCIFI too dungeon I pretty much have them all, and I hardly ever take the time out to leave a review. BUT!!!!!! I can honestly say that this series is in the top 5 that I have read and I only want more. Too be honest AFK could write about what he had for breakfast and I would read it.

Just great!

Coming of age and the stupidity of youth just make this book a little more real. I like the gaming aspects and the OPMC who really is his own worst enemy. Hopefully, your next book comes out soon. Thank you. It kept me up late.

Great Second Book

Great continuation from the first book. MC is still figuring out his powers this book takes the same feel as the first and has him working with more of a team. The comedy is as good as the 1st book with some repetition it doesn't feel overdone making it feel more like your in on the inside joke.

Still In Love

I absolutely enjoy this series and Travis did another excellent job bringing it to life. Most stories go with a time skip to make more time pass and add filler but honestly its only been less then a week in story and it's still packed with so much depth and enjoyable moments. I love the mix of Litrpg and Cultivation A. F. Kay has truly made something special. Can't wait for the book 3 release.

An Excellent Sequel to my Favorite LITRPG Series!

The story continues immediately after the end of Book One and the plot continues to thicken. The intrigue grows, and we find poor Ruwen finally coming to terms with what he has to do. He probably would have figured it out sooner, if it weren't for those darned debuffs!

The pacing of the story is perfect, and the introduction of new mechanics has you asking all of the right questions. Like a comfortable heavy blanket, you will find yourself enjoying on a cold day, this story will fill you with that same soothing warmth. You'll become quite connected to the characters with their fun and believable banter. All of these things will leave you with a burning hunger for more.

It should also go without saying, but I find myself having to say it anyways. Travis Baldree continues to do a wonderful job and is quickly becoming my all-time favorite narrator, and he should be yours.

121% Recommend.

Enjoyable read

Some parts of the story were very technical which became confusing at times. Had to rewind chapters multiple times to understand context. Overall, I enjoyed the story ( gave 4 stars).

Too short

the problem is that this a epic story. 10hours is not going to cover one book. This needs to told over 30-40 hours.
Your not getting a whole book. little parts, maybe if book 3 was out and add the first 2 books together. maybe then it would feel like a whole book.
Did I enjoy it. yes.
is worth buying parts of book one ...for me I feel cheated. unsure cos I do love the world and magic system.

better than first book

first thing is they keep reading out stats which annoyed me but the ending made me want to get next book in the series, loved how it gave more explanation to things unlike the first book and the story progress in a good pace, many funny moments and my theory about his band panned out ...I'd recommend this audio book

Wasted space.

Too much of the chapters wasted on repeating the hero's statistics and upgrades. wasted space.

better than the first one

other than a bit of overtly forced drama/tension towards the end between a couple of the MCs this was pretty good. most of the problems I had with the first book were either fixed or made an appearance sparingly enough that it didn't bother me (eg the mc saying he's so smart then doing something obviously stupid). it was also very much an adventure unlike the first book which was him being dragged around places by the skin of his teeth. narration was good, not the best I've heard but definitely up there.
so my recommendation is that if you got through the first and at least enjoyed it somewhat then read this one too
