Publisher's summary

A vampire and a scientist’s fates are passionately entwined in a race against time in this thrilling romance in the #1 New York Times best-selling “utterly absorbing and deliciously erotic” (Angela Knight, New York Times bestselling author) Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

In the venerable history of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, only one male has ever been expelled—but Murhder’s insanity gave the Brothers no choice. Haunted by visions of a female he could not save, he nonetheless returns to Caldwell on a mission to right the wrong that ruined him. However, he is not prepared for what he must face in his quest for redemption.

Dr. Sarah Watkins, researcher at a biomedical firm, is struggling with the loss of her fellow scientist fiancé. When the FBI starts asking about his death, she questions what really happened and soon learns the terrible truth: Her firm is conducting inhumane experiments in secret and the man she thought she knew and loved was involved in the torture.

As Murhder and Sarah’s destinies become irrevocably entwined, desire ignites between them. But can they forge a future that spans the divide separating the two species? And as a new foe emerges in the war against the vampires, will Murhder return to his Brothers...or resume his lonely existence forevermore?

✫✫ 5 Stars ✫✫ It's BDB What did you expect ;)

I can't believe it's over already!! I wait all year for the next BDB and then I always finish it on release day and start waiting again but I can't resist!

This book was everything! I wanna scream from the rooftops about the ending but I won't. I have been waiting for more Murhder for so many years, and I am not even a little disappointed. He is so much more than I expected. I really loved that this book didn't really dwell on the past, yes we get a little Murhder history but not like many books in the past, this book is mostly written in the present. We are introduced to a couple new people too. Sarah is brilliant and I loved how brave she is! No matter how scary or dangerous this situation becomes she know what is right and knows what she has to do. I think my favorite thing about her is that she fits in beautifully with the women of the brotherhood. Not only did I enjoy Murhder and Sarah's story, I also loved that we get so much John Matthew and Xhex! JM is a huge part of this book and that just makes my heart burst. Great book in an Awesome series!! Oh and in case I didn't say in loud enough... THAT ENDING!!!!!!

Jim Frangione is not everyone's taste for narration but I love him. He will always be the Brotherhood to me. I'll admit I hate the the pronunciation of a lot of the names changed like 10 books into the series, I really like his original pronunciations so much better even if they were wrong!

MURHDER ... FINALLY

Old School BDB baby! I am so over the moon that this book was Murher, his book has been a book I have wanted for a very long time. I think this was kind of the perfect time for it. It really is about more than just him though. We get a good variety of all the BDB family.
But also Sarah and her incredible mind and how she not only smart but so strong her life hasn’t been “normal” and her connection with Nate was something I loved right away. But also how she doesn’t cower toward Murher or really any of the Brothers, especially when she was passionate about something.
JM and Xhex have a huge role to play in this book and it will blow you away, the emotions that come out just wow. Some will surprise you to say the very least.

Lassiter isn’t prominent but he does show up and makes himself known. Also, Wrath carrying George cracks me up every time he picks him up.

Oh, the ending! I don’t want to give away anything so I will just say I had a tear and I am so so happy. I can’t wait for more, whether it is the Legacy series or what I just want more.

I love Jim and I don’t want anyone else to ever narrate the brothers he is the brothers in my books.

Oh Lassiter you golden God 😂😂😂

I wouldn't say I love this one as it took awhile to get going. Muhrder and Sarah didn't meet as early in the book and the first part of the story really dragged. Unlike previous books where we got a lot of prospective from the Brothers this one only featured a few. What I did love though was seeing John Matthew finally got the honor he deserved. The way the Brothers treated Muhrder was just terrible. He was judged unfairly for years and abandon by his family who is supposed to be their for him. He is such a good person too, the title of the book is perfect for him. Sarah is a great match for Muhrder, she is an intelligent strong and compassionate woman, and will fit in nicely with the rest of the females. Overall I'd have love to see more Lassiter, Butch, V and Rhage. This is the BDB and all the Brothers are usually more prominent. Love the way Lassiter is ruling as I couldn't stand the Scribe Virgin with her do not question me attitude. Jim Frangione was ok except I wish they would go back to the original pronunciation of the names. Yes it might have been the wrong pronunciation but they were so much better and why fixed something that wasn't broken!

50/50

I love the series, although I’m a little disappointed that
Some characters are not mentioned or the fact that very little is mentioned about the kids. I really thought that the women would have more involvement in the stories.

Just a little off...

I'll start off by saying Ward is "ALWAYS" an automatic buy for me. She is the only author I buy in hardcover and audio. Soooooo... IMO after anticipating Murhder's story for about the last 8 or 10 books I had a hard time connecting to either Murdher or Sarah -- for me they were just okay.

And V just didn't feel like V. All the brothers acted out of character in fact, in regards to Murhder!?? Only Rhage seemed recognizable. The story arc felt too predictable, somewhat contrived and some things were rushed or glossed over too conveniently. However parts of it were amazing -- lots does happen! The ending promises us that the future is about to get very interesting and uncertain! I personally can't wait to see where she'll take us and the Brotherhood!

Is it credit worthy? Would I recommend this? -- Yes.

Jim Francine absolutely owns this series ...he is the voice of the BDB and BDL. When I hear his voice I am immediately swept away to Caldwell, NY! Despite my less than 5 star review, you J R Ward still remain my "FAVORITE" author in the paranormal romance genre and of course I will be pre-ordering my hardcover and audio copies of Blood Truth!

Murhder is a Savior!

As everyone has pointed out the first third of this book is a bit slow. This book took my back to OG Brotherhood books, and it just makes me happy we get to know Murhder. I have been in a minority of people who knew Murhder wasn’t insane, but little did I know how much Murhder sacrificed. There were so many scenes in this book that make me cry and smile in happiness. And it was so greater to get John Matthew and Xhex get more time in the front and not have unnecessary drama *cough* V and Jane *cough* and OMG John Matthew is officially in the brotherhood now!! Oh wow Murhder and Sarah were sizzling off my book and were giving me hot flashes! Overall, I really enjoyed this book but there were just some little things that bothered me.

JR Ward Does it Again!

From the opening chapter JRWard reveals her mastery and doesn’t stop until the final kiss. I laughed, I cried, I felt deeply and rejoiced at the end. I don’t know how she does this but every single book leaves me needing more of the Brotherhood in my life.

Nice installment, but predictable and not wowing

I enjoyed the storyline even if it was fairly predictable. I enjoyed the new characters. It was somehow just not up to the caliber of many of the other books. The author was giving her fans what they wanted and have been asking for. So it filled a need. And it was an interesting read. Jim Frangione is really coming into his own and narrating far better than when he first started out.

Disappointed

This is actually my very first review ever - that's how upset I am with book. I have loved every single BDB book and couldn't wait for this one. It was redundant to say the least. SPOILER ALERT. It's got the induction scene like Butch and the "we can't be together because of the vampire loves human" thing like with Manny. And too much explaining the past as if the reader needed to be brought up to speed. A true BDB fan knows what's happening - that was a waste if time. I'm hoping the next book is Lassiter and Ward takes the time for a new and unique story line.

True to Form

J. R. Ward is amazing, and this is a great example of her work. I truly enjoyed the characters, performance, etc. Her last book was admittedly hard to get through with how awkward and predictable it was. But this one is back up among her best!
