About this listen

The body of a missing priest was discovered in a small boat floating in the Atlantic Ocean. The corpse was identified as that of Father Jim Chamberlain, a Navy chaplain and close friend of retired Navy Commander Mike Gerard. Gerard was appointed to investigate the circumstances of Chamberlain’s death.

Days after his friend’s body was discovered, Gerard received a series of letters written by Chamberlain before his death. He was being pursued by the secretive and sinister satanic cult known as the Order of the Eighth Realm. He had found and taken the Order’s guidebook, the Satan Manifesto, written entirely in Latin, and had it secretly delivered to a friend.

The Order will stop at nothing to ensure the Manifesto is returned. Gerard enlists the help of Captain Janet McAdam to translate the Manifesto. Gerard, McAdam, and Gerard’s ex-wife, Kathleen Lawford, become engaged in a race against time to decipher the cryptic Manifesto and prevent the Order of the Eighth Realm from carrying out its deadly plan of retribution.

Good story and plot, but odd. Lots of characters to keep track of, but Melissa Kay Benson did a great job in her narration and helping the reader/listener. I expected a more climactic ending, but overall an interesting book.
