Publisher's summary

High above the blood- and mud-soaked trenches, a young girl pits herself against army mages in high stakes aerial duels with bullets, spells, and bayonets. Her name is Tanya Degurechaff and she is the Devil of the Rhine, one of the greatest soldiers the Empire has ever seen!

But inside her mind lives a ruthless, calculating ex-salaryman who enjoyed a peaceful life in Japan until he woke up in a war-torn world. Reborn as a destitute orphaned girl with nothing to her name but memories of a previous life, Tanya will do whatever it takes to survive, even if she can find it only behind the barrel of a gun!

Yes

The little evil girl is now on audiobook. This is a great story and it is interesting to hear how the anime is different from the story. Looking forward to the next one.

A great audio book but...

I want to start this off by starting for the most part I enjoyed this book. having watching and loving the anime and manga it was interesting to listen to the source material.

cons for me personally
perspective switching mid combat or starting a combat sequence then skipping to the end or the result. while the having after reports of things is fun and the other characters perspective of tanya is fun, it took me out of the book.

the general concept and idea behind the book is unique and a very different take on the isekai genre so all in all I think this is a good book, but maybe just not for me.

It's ok. Different from anime show.

Welcome to the batch review. I have read six books in this series, and i have 4 months of total listening time on the audible.

i will review this series as a whole.

Unfortunately, i can't recommend the series even if i like it.

How you can see the series have three different narrators, that's not good. Even if narrators is OK, that is a problem, and it will broke the immersion.

Second problem is writing style of the author. It something between wiki-page and story from newspapers, especially in the first book.

Now the good parts:

It is different somewhat from anime, and it is better than anime, i like it more. But anime did great job to compensate author style and add some important details.
We have better access to Tanya inner thoughts.
Anime ends in somewhere in book 3-4, so you will have a few book that will be new.

So if you like the anime and have nothing better to listen you can dig in. That was my reason why i had try this book.

total score: OK

the style of writing had me hooked from the beginning

I am new to audiobooks but the pacing and emotion conveyed in the voice of the reader was top notch

Story is great

My only gripes are with reading footnotes in the same tone, quickly unnecessary for a complete story telling.

Marvelous

I have the physical copies of the book, but found it difficult to read for whatever reason. This was sublime, and I highly recommend it.

Fantastic

Having Monica Rial narrate was an amazing choice, since she was the voice actress for the English language version of the anime.

An amazing book for an amazing show. I enjoyed every second of the book, and I hope the next volume will not disappoint.

Lives up to expectations

This story is such a wonder. And it's made better with Monica Rial as the narrator and the voice of Tanya.
