Publisher's Summary

RITA Award-winning author Kennedy Ryan delivers the gripping conclusion to the All the King's Men Duet . Ambition. Revenge. Love.

Raised to resist. Bred to fight. Survival is in my blood and surrender is never an option. Though surrender is what Maxim Cade demanded of my body and heart, I had other plans. We were fast-burning fascination and combustible chemistry, but the man I trusted with everything was a trickster. A thief who stole my love. If what we had was a lie, why did it feel so real? The man I swore to hate will have it all, and wants me at his side. But power is a game, and we're the pawns and players. Facing insurmountable odds, will we win the world, or will we lose it all?

Amazing Conclusion to the Duet!

I honestly want to just say that for me this duet is life changing! The story moved me so much I needed more than moment to process. I am so happy I decided to listen to the duet because the narration was stellar, the raw emotions and beautifully poetic words came to life and had me riveted to each minute of the book. These two narrators together were absolutely magical!

Reading and listening to books is a beautiful escape and it absolutely astounds me as to how a story like this can truly have my heart racing and at the same time open my eyes to so many things that I never truly understood about the American culture. Book two is a much more suspenseful storyline and at times I had tears welling in my eyes while listening. The growth and journey that Maxim and Lennix take is not an easy one, but together they are stronger and more powerful than either imagined.

“We all have pain, the difference is where it takes you.”

And in case you were wondering, yes, Maxim is just as deliciously sexy and dirty talking in this book.

No words....

This book took my breath and kept it the entire time!! I love Kennedy Ryan for always penning books that resonate and take a stand. The political stance was palatable and honest! Great job.

Fantastic conclusion!

This duet is fantastic! The characters have so much depth, drive, and compassion.

The Rebel King took a turn I had not anticipated and following the cliffhanger of The Kings Man, that says a lot. I was not prepared for the feelings this event elicited, but as the story progressed, it made sense. I’m not happy that it occurred (that’s to you Kennedy Ryan! 😂), but it added to the intensity of the story.

This was Maxim’s book and if I wasn’t already head over heels for him, I was a goner for him in The Rebel King. He’s fierce and loyal, romantic and passionate, strong yet vulnerable. But mostly, he’s a man wholly in love with a woman he fell for when she was just seventeen and full of spirit. She’s his match. The obstacles thrown at them just draw them closer. It’s hard to see them struggle but beautiful as they come together. Their love on their faces and in their eyes a completely undeniable force.

The quote that stuck with me and is all Maxim and Lennix is, “We weren’t unlikely. We were inevitable.”

Kennedy Ryan delivered another fierce heroine and gave her a partner who truly complimented her, who accepted the fire within and together, they sought the stars.

Wonderful narrators!! Brought this story to life!

This Series is AMAZING!

Let's get one thing out... I hated for this to end!

This is book 2 of the duet and the story will have you going to every emotion you can find before it gets to the end... You may have an idea of what is going to happen, but you won't be able to figure the entire story out!

There is only so much to say in order to not give the story away. The story deals with the political aspirations of the Cade family, the sacred land of the Hunter family, and the life choices of those in between. You learn the power of love, the beauty of friendship, and the strength of a family. While I don't compare books and authors, I have definitely placed this book in my favorite category! Maxim and Lennox are two souls that make you want more from their story and definitely left their mark on the reading world! Kennedy Ryan definitely excelled with this story!!!

And the narrators on this book brought the story to life and made me want to listen over & over again!

Holy moly!

The second book in a two-book duology, it was as raw and edgy and “oh my god, what just happened?!?!” as the first book. All of the loose ends were nicely wrapped up and the characters are solid, yet broken, with a most exquisite balance. Just, wow!

If you’re not in love with the narrator’s voices by the end of book one, don’t worry because you will be!

"A" for amazing work and narration!

The first book, The Kingmaker, was a flawless "A+", but this book (its final installment) has an "A" rating. I guess I favored the first half simply because the story of young lovers is more wistful and compelling than those of the 30-somethings.

Both narrators did great, and this is by far the best story Jason Clarke has ever narrated! (I've listened to more than a dozen of Jason-narrated audiobooks, thanks to Audio Escape). He nailed a lot of vocal ranges, including his infamous rugged alpha male one.

My heart ❤️

Bravo Miss. Ryan
Again you wrote the perfect story!!

This book went in a direction I wouldn’t have seen in a mile.
In a world with run of the mill romance novels this one stands out!

You are an amazing writer!
The amount of research you would have had to do to write this is just beyond!

I hate everything political but you represented both sides and in the middle. Which is where I stand!

Don’t want to give to much away but I will leave with this
I NEED A BOOK ABOUT GRIM!!!!!!!

Love that spans different upbringing and culture

The suspense from the first book continues, addressing the cliffhanger. Maxim and Lenox are such tenacious, ambitious characters, steadfast in their principles and their vision for how they can change the world for the better. Maxim through raising climate change awareness, finding and using alternatives to fossil fuel like wind turbines. Whilst Lennix focuses on Native Americans and minorities rights changing policies and raising awareness using politics. This book is heavily into politics which might not suit all, however I didn't mind it. The intense passion they have for each other continues and matures in this instalment as they're both older and appreciate each other more. They weather the storms of some very sad and torrid times, but throughout remain loyal to one another which is endearing.

It did annoy me that Lennix coerced Maxim into choosing to do something that she later said would mean she's uncertain whether she can marry him??! Why would you talk the person you love into doing something, then turn around and say due to that choice you're not sure you can marry them.

That aside i really enjoyed this series, it was more than just a romance it covered important relevant topics and I learned whilst devouring the sexual chemistry. Well written, will definitely read more from this author again.

Loved it

I waited for this second part like a starved person and every word, every emotion, every revelation and despair was felt.
The glass in which Kennedy Ryan pushes us to observe humanity and how we do things and what catalysts trigger such actions is such a brilliant conclusion to this tale, that is a romance but also an examination of soany things. I cried, I hoped, I anguished, I celebrated but most of all I learned a little more about interaction.
