A reclusive former celebrity, a recovering good girl, and small town trouble...

It started as a joke. After a string of bad boyfriends, I made up a fake boyfriend so people would quit asking when I was going to meet a grumpy lumberjack trying to save his mama’s inn in my adopted hometown.

When my grandma demanded proof from afar, I sent her a picture of me and my “boyfriend.”

Spoiler alert: He wasn’t really my boyfriend.

He was actually a reclusive former boy band member who swings through town sometimes and is friends with my friends.

As much as a reclusive former boy bander can be friends with anyone, that is.

He doesn’t know I told anyone he’s my boyfriend. Or that his name is Steve. Or that my grandma judges him by his tattoos and manbun.

So when Grandma sends the guy she’d rather me marry to town to make sure “Steve” is good enough for me—and to talk me into marrying him instead—I have something of a problem.

But I got myself into this mess, so I’ll get myself out.

By proposing.

Relax, relax, I’m proposing a fake wedding.

And when he turns me down, I can say we broke up.

Except he doesn’t turn me down.

Instead, he offers me a trade.

He’ll pretend to be my groom, but I have to do something for him in return.

And that something?

Hoooo, boy.

I liked the man better when he was my pretend boyfriend Steve.

The Pretend Fiancé Fiasco is an action-packed romcom featuring the reclusive final member of the boy band Bro Code, a recovering good girl with too many men interested in her for all the wrong reasons, a treasure hunt, a fake engagement, and the best surprise to hit the Copper Valley universe since the Fireballs’ new mascot was revealed. This small town romantic comedy stands alone, but you won’t go wrong to listen to both the Copper Valley Bro Code series and the Copper Valley Fireballs series to catch all of the easter eggs.

I laughed so much with this story. Cute and a little thrilling. Nice way to wrap up the overall friendship story lines.

The humor.

I love this series and book 6 was well worth the wait. Davis and Sloan were so much fun. Lots of laughs and fun with what you would expect from a Copper Valley book with hidden surprises. Sloan gets it all started with a little fib and Davis surprises her by playing along. The Bro Code band member has been hiding away but Sloan will change that. Just a fun story.

Teddy Hamilton, CJ Bloom, and Ava Erickson were great to listen to. I highly recommend this book.

Loved it!

Friends and family shenanigans, mysteries, MANY twists you will never see coming.

Best end to a series ever. My heart is so full and my book hangover is so massive. Time for a reread of them all!

This is not the first book in the series, but it can be read as a complete stand-alone. However I think you will get more out of it if you have read the other books as you have met some of the characters before. But don’t let that deter you. This can be a stand-alone. But it will make you want to read all the other books!

You will get some fun little Easter eggs though if you have read some of the other series. But they are just minor, so if you haven't read the books you won't miss anything. But if you have the Easter eggs will give you quite a giggle.

I listened to the audiobook of this, and loved it! I think that hearing the voices gives you so much more as a reader. You really can feel the emotions. You connect much quicker to the characters as well. These narrators were top notch.

Davis and Sloan are perfect together. There's so many secrets revealed while they've looking for the treasure. Great narration, too.

Great ending to the series

Davis Remington has been an enigma in Pippa Grant’s universe. There would be brief mentions and allusions but no details. In The Pretend Fiancé Fiasco we finally get to meet the man… the myth… the legend… the man bun. He was worth the wait.

One thing I love about Pippa Grant stories are the connections and this book was full of fun cameos (people and locations!) that made the story all the more richer. I think having Sloane as the FMC was the perfect choice. We met her in the first story set in Shipwreck (Flirting with the Frenemy) and to have her as a lead in this one brought it full circle. So many mysteries and questions were wrapped up in this story and it was done seamlessly.

The narration by Teddy Hamilton and CJ Bloom brought the story to life. It’s always magical to hear Pippa’s words. They are wonderful to read them on the page but to hear them spoken with emotion by such talented narrators is next level. I’m sorry this is the last of the Bro Code books but I will hope for a reunion tour.

The Pretend Fiancé Fiasco can be read as a standalone and thoroughly enjoyed. But if you read a few other Pippa books first (especially Flirting with the Enemy but do all of the Bro Code series plus Dirty Talking Rival) it will be a much richer experience.

Worth the wait!
