To save the lives of her friends, Rachel did the unthinkable: she willingly trafficked in forbidden demon magic. And now her sins are coming home to haunt her.

As Rachel searches for the truth behind a terrifying murder, an even greater menace threatens, for the demon Algaliarept will stop at nothing to claim her, and the discovery of a shocking family secret throws Rachel's entire life into question. If she is ever to live free, Rachel must first walk willingly into the demonic ever-after in search of long-lost ancient knowledge.

But when you dance with demons, you lay your soul on the line . . . and there are some lines that should never be crossed.

Kim Harrison's series is terrific and this one does not disappoint. The new narrator made this a difficult listen though. She does an awful job with the story. The mispronounced words, high pitched childish use of a voice for Jenks, making Rachel come off as a squealing high school girl and missing Ivy completely really disappointed me. I'll never understand why a company has one narrator for a series of books then suddenly changes. I know each narrator has their own style but you'd think they or the company would do a better job of matching them up.

Horrible Narration Take 2

Well, this is my first review. I have had a ton of fun readying this series, that was until now, oh my! I really hate it when they change narrators mid stream, and in this case they could not have picked a worse person. Gigi Bermingham give every character in this book a little girls voice! From Rachel, to Ivy to Jinks to the Gargoyle Biss, all sound like 3rd grade girls! I am struggling my way through this only because I know the old narrator is back for the next book. If not I would have ended reading here, it is that bad.
Oh and I won't start on the miss pronunciation of names and terms in this book, I find myself uttering the proper pronunciation every time! UGG.
Other than that, the book is well written, much like the first five. Final thought, if you love the others you will like this one, just grit your teeth when you listen!

Good book, Bad Narriation!

I truly love Kim Harrison's books, her characters are great, the story is really good and a fun read. I was soooo disappointed to hear the new narrator. I was really hoping that all the other reviewers were wrong. But unfortunately, they were correct. Her pronunciation was horrid, which of course just killed the whole story for me. If the first narrator had returned, the story would have been perfect and would have received at least 4 stars. Nevertheless, I'm certain I will get any other books that she writes in this series as I hope that it is not over.

Horrible, horrible narrator

I gave this book three stars not because there was anything wrong with the story, Kim Harrison has done a superb job with this latest Rachel Morgan tale. The thing I found missing was a decent narrator. Gigi Bermingham was unprepared for this role. She badly mispronounced several of the established character names throughout the story. I found this very annoying and was correcting her out loud by the end. By all means buy this book but be prepared for this unpleasant surprise. My advice for the future, bring back Marguerite Gavin !

Something missing

I love these books, I listened to the two before this one and was all excited and when the narrator was different I was soooo upset. I agree with the others, I missed some important things that happen because of her mispronouncing words and peoples names!!! I had to rewind!! I hate her!!! The story is really good though and if you are a fan it is a must that you read/listen!! I just hope they bring back the old narrator for the next book!

OMG why?????
