Publisher's summary
Nail-bitingly modern domestic noir.
A tense, Hitchcockian psychological thriller.
Louise Voss returns with her darkest, most chilling novel yet....
Lynn Naismith gave up the job she loved when she married Ed, the love of her life, but it was worth it for the happy years they enjoyed together. Now, 10 years on, Ed has been diagnosed with early onset dementia, and things start to happen - things more sinister than missing keys and lost words. As some memories are forgotten, others, long buried, begin to surface...and Lynn’s perfect world begins to crumble. But is it Ed’s mind playing tricks, or hers....?

Super Suspense
I love Louise Voss and was thrilled to devour her new psychological suspense thriller. It has been a while since I listened to a book that had me hooked from start to finish, and one that I won't soon forget. Original plot, not totally unbelievable; fascinating characters and a great deal of suspense throughout. This book keeps you guessing. I thought the narration was also excellent. Highly recommend for fans of this genre and fans of Louise Voss.

Great start...
Started off brilliant and I couldn't stop listening. The plot is fantastically intricate, but whereas the first 25% of the book is creepy and draws you in, the last 25% is far fetched and although I didn't completely lose interest, I wasn't gripped anymore. the narrator was very good, though.

The Old You
This mystery had the potential of being quite good, but it instead became implausible and ridiculous. None of the characters were likeable, even the main character, who, for a cop, was pretty stupid and made poor decision after poor decision. The narrator was okay, but she has one of those voices that sounds like she has a hard candy in her mouth while speaking.

Cliched and preposterous
This novel had an intriguing set up, but fell into a contrived, cliched mess from about half way. The characters were 2-dimensional and unreal, while the plot was so contrived it started to feel like a bad Scooby Doo episode. It felt like the author ran out of steam half way through so threw the kitchen sink at the novel, throwing in everything she had and every plot point she could think of (including a research trip to Mustique?) without thinking about what the novel should be about. I know this is basically a crime chick lit, but really. What the author didn't do is to flesh out the protagonist, her motivation or her journey. The writing just became more cliched, preposterous and soulless as the novel went on. Very disappointing.

A very tangled web!
I really enjoyed this dark domestic thriller full of secrets and lies. The story is perfectly paced, and the characters are well rounded and realistic. Having seen the damage that dementia can do first hand, I felt really sorry for both Ed and Lynne. I really connected with Lynne, though, who was a very likeable, realistic character. But what a tangled web Louise Voss weaves, and as the story progressed I didn't know what or who to believe. There are twists and shocks galore which lead to a fabulous finale..
The narration by Zara Ramm was perfect for the book

Story
Deep in the heat and silence of rural Tennessee, down an untraveled road, sits the forgotten town of Three Summers. Mere miles away, on an overgrown river island, stands the house that once presided over the grand plantation of Angel’s Landing, moss-draped, decrepit. Waiting. Failing crime writer Bradley Ellison and former prostitute Missy Holiday are drawn to this place, fleeing a world turned against them.

Story
Tim Cornish thought he'd gotten away with murder. For months after he'd killed his lover off the Alaskan coast, there hadn't been a word. But then the letters started to arrive. It seems that someone knows what Tim has done.... This compelling thriller delivers such a dark picture of romantic love that murder seems its natural mate. Frightening, suspenseful, and deeply unsettling, No Night Is Too Long is a modern crime masterpiece and will be enjoyed by readers of P. D. James and Ian Rankin.
