In his early 20s, Curtis Jackson, known as 50 Cent, rose to the heights of fame and power in the cutthroat music business. A decade ago, the multi-platinum selling rap artist decided to pivot. His ability to adapt to change was demonstrated when he became the executive producer and star of Power, a high-octane, gripping crime drama centered around a drug kingpin's family. The series quickly became "appointment" television, leading to Jackson inking a four-year, $150 million contract with the Starz network - the most lucrative deal in premium cable history.

Publisher's Summary
The inspiring, instructive, and ultimately triumphant memoir of a man who used hard work and a Master Plan to turn a life sentence into a second chance.
Growing up in a tough Washington, D.C., neighborhood, Chris Wilson was so afraid for his life he wouldn't leave the house without a gun. One night, defending himself, he killed a man. At 18, he was sentenced to life in prison with no hope of parole.
But what should have been the end of his story became the beginning. Deciding to make something of his life, Chris embarked on a journey of self-improvement - reading, working out, learning languages, even starting a business. He wrote his Master Plan: a list of all he expected to accomplish or acquire. He worked his plan every day for years, and in his mid-30s he did the impossible: he convinced a judge to reduce his sentence and became a free man. Today Chris is a successful social entrepreneur who employs returning citizens; a mentor; and a public speaker. He is the embodiment of second chances, and this is his unforgettable story.

"Read books that feed your soul."
Chris' ' story is absolutely incredible! I'm an avid reader so I read a lot of books. Typically I'll read during my morning commute or listen to audiobooks while working throughout the day. I can definitively say that The Master Plan has become one of my top 5 favorites. I've already recommended it to friends and look forward to gifting it during the holiday season.
The Master Plan is extremely engrossing, inspiring and enlightening. I can't say enough about it! Chris Wilson's story is a perfect example of what can happen when you don't paint members of a particular group with the same brush. If you're willing to listen and look without prejudice it may change the way you view the criminal justice system or individuals who commit crimes. In fact, I think it should be required reading for every judge, attorney and anyone working within the department of corrections.

Study, read, & rise!
This is one of the most remarkable journeys I have ever read. Chris Wilson tells his story with honesty & inspires the reader regardless of his or her personal trials. I’m not sure I’ve known anyone to study & read as much as described by Chris. His focus, determination, and undying discipline is at a level that amazes. This man literally fought for his life multiple times and rose higher and higher with each setback. From taking a life to changing lives, Chris is an inspiration to those inside and free. You will undoubtedly be moved and more importantly be a better person after reading this title.

Chris blew me away with his story of growing up in tough circumstances. I laughed at times and I cried at times but mostly I was inspired by this young man’s story. He took hard times and made something good from them, which I cannot express how much I admire him for. He sets an example for all of us to follow! Thank you Chris!!!

Dope!
We’re use to hearing from the streets in rap music, slam poetry or through film. Chris has given the streets a literary voice.
We read the Fredrick Douglass biography to understand the plight of enslaved Africans in America.
The Masterplan provides the same insight to black youth in America.

In each stage throughout the book I was moved in so many ways...
In some instances the familiarity of the dynamics of the culture of being black in America touched my soul; both the good and the bad. But as Chris tells his experiences my determination is stirred...not just a good read a significant and meaningful one...I’m forever changed!
