Epic Haunted Tale

Adam buys an old cottage by a cliffs edge where many years ago the Coathaven Village once sat. A fishing town that was hit by a horrible event, which left a big loss. (No spoilers)

Adam falls in love in a different time & tried to show others the village he is able to wonder around in & make new friends. Things are not as they seem though & Adam finds out what happened to Coathaven for himself.
A story with ghosts, love, creepy people, friendship, love loss & a trip back to the 1830s.

The storyline is very original & very well developed. The characters are clear & easy to build a relationship with, it definitely had me rooting for them!! I didn't see the ending coming either. I love stories that keep me guessing & are not 100% predictable!!!

I not only really enjoyed the story, but I loved the narrator as well. He made no mistakes, was clear & showed all the right emotions in each character. His voice is really wonderful & was perfect for the story.

I do recommend this book it's worth 2 hrs & 56 min!!

Well wasn't expecting that

I really enjoyed this book. I don't want to say any spoilers, so I'll just say I hope nothing like this happens to me.

The Lost Village

This was an entertaining tale of a village that was lost many years ago to a natural disaster. Adam Collins buys one of the few remaining cottages along the seacoast after being told that he needs to get away from his high pressure job. Soon, he starts to experience strange events that seem to be transporting him back in time.

The longer he lives in the cottage, the further he is drawn into the past. Is he truly living in that past or is he going crazy (as his wife suspects)? He meets local fishermen at the pub, falls in love with a young woman named Charlotte, and has mysterious encounters with an older woman who seems to be his landlady. But, when his wife and children come for a visit, they cannot see the village or any of the people Adam sees.

I enjoyed this short story and was reminded of the movie "Brigadoon", with the village appearing and disappearing at odd times. The author does a good job with creating the mysterious atmosphere and I always enjoy his works. The narrator did a great job and added a lot to my enjoyment of this audiobook. I was given the chance to listen to this audiobook by the author/narrator/publisher and chose to review it.

This was an excellent ghotly tale.A man moves to an abandoned cottage above where a town used to be.He does not find it odd to meet the residents of a town that no longer exisits. Howard J Davey was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

Adam buys a cottage near the sea to relax. Only the missing village starts to reappear. As his soon to be ex-wife thinks he's going crazy seeing things that are not really their. She remains concerned for him and the state of the home. As he becomes more entranced by the village he may soon meet the same fate it did. The narration was nice. The story was not quite what I expected.

Great book!

Wonderfully bizarre story. You keep hoping it ends well despite his dual life in 2 different time periods.

Lost Village Hunting

Kind of a time travel romance. The village had been destroyed by a deadly storm.. As Adam settles into his new life, He renovate the cottage and pursue of painting seascapes.

A well written eerie mystery

I really enjoyed this book, the narration was brilliant and the story was mysterious, unsettling yet charming and well written.

Not Brigadoon

No sing and dancing in this lost haunting village. A village that has been lost since 1800s, and Adam can see and visit. He starts to meet and talk to villagers. There is a romance , which is part of a story twist and great characters.

Haunting

I have come to really like all of Gefforey Sleight books and I do like how Howard Davey narrates them. This one was just as good as the others I've heard. Will listen to others of his/theirs as well!

A good read.

I really enjoyed this short story. It is more a ghost story rather than a horror and isn't the kind of book to keep you awake at night. There is a romantic twist in it and the characters are well developed. A really nice bedtime read. The narration by Howard J. Davey was excellent once again as it has been in all 3 books that he has done for Geoffrey Sleight. Highly recommended. *****

A good story

I found the story a little hard going and I didn't feel that the narration helped.
Other reviewers have enjoyed the book more, so perhaps I am just the wrong audience.

Nice ghostly short story

This is a nice ghostly short story with an unexpected twist at the end. Got free code from the author which was nice. Look forward to more from this author.

Nice enough ghost story

This turned out to be a 'nice' ghost story, rather than a frightning one. The story of a man, separated from his wife, who goes to find himself in a small cottage by the sea. The cottage is close to the shore where a village was swept away in the 19th century. He starts to see visions of characters from the village, and then starts to see the village itself, as it was. He actually goes to the village and meets and talks to the characters there. From there the story develops,,,, Pleasant enough story, but I'm afraid it was rather spoiled for me by the narration. It was spoken much too quickly, with some curious phrasing in places. There wasn't much of an effort made on characterising the various voices, or acting the story.

Intriguing

Intriguing story, didn't guess the ending. Well written, enjoyed two of this authors books now.
