So beautiful

I was so pleased to find this book. Shortly after finishing the first in the series. So perfectly written. The narration is incredible and sounds just like what Isabel would sound like.

The Letter

Not as good as first book in series. Even for dual time line an unusual amount of jumping around in timeline & from character to character. Though it is an interesting story. It kept my attention throughout. I think this would be better to physically read. Narrators male voices sounded odd & far too old for the characters representing.

SO many characters! SO hard to follow!

The Letter is book 2 in the two-book short series, beginning with The Promise. The writing of each was well done, but the mix, multiplicity of relationships, interweaves of miseries, missed opportunities and poor or extremely painful life choices became a nearly impossible task to follow both the many storylines and the characters! Book one, The Promise, was an Audible freebie, but I wish I’d not wasted the credit on The Letter. It had its moments, but it really is, in my opinion, a mess. Also, there was perhaps one exception in the multiples of couplings, where there was a healthy relationship, where there wasn’t horrific backbiting within the men and women, where the men, usually, were either fools or nasty sons of nasty, mean situations…Felt like a soap opera much of the time — my gawd! LOTS of pathos swirled and came to a head in The Letter. It was hard to follow, head-spinning…and irritating — non of which why I read, listen to books! However, narration of both The Promise and The Letter was very good and read by the same woman.
