Publisher's summary

Lara's life looks perfect on the surface. Gorgeous doting husband Massimo, sweet little son Sandro and the perfect home. Lara knows something about Massimo. Something she can't tell anyone else or everything Massimo has worked so hard for will be destroyed: his job, their reputation, their son. This secret is keeping Lara a prisoner in her marriage.

Maggie is married to Massimo's brother Nico. She knows all of Nico's darkest secrets - or so she thinks. The one day she discovers a letter in the attic which reveals a shocking secret about Nico's first wife Caitlin. Will Maggie set the record straight or keep a lie to protect those she loves?

For a family held together by lies, the truth will come at a devastating price.

Enjoyable * 10

This is one of the rare credits that you are glad you used but hate to see come to end, very relatable characters with just enough liquid to keep it juicy.

Luved it!

This is my first listen by Kerry Fisher and narration by Emma Spurgin-Hussey and not my last.

Great story and the narration, of course, brings it all together.

I really enjoyed how the book flowed. There are many segments that make you smile, make you laugh, make you angry, make you sad, but, I especially liked the segment where Anna and rest of family were expected at Maggie and Nico's to plan for the Italian vacation. When Anna, in her self-imposed la-di-da manner treats Maggie as a servant instead of her daughter-in-law, followed by Maggie's reaction to the event in the closet was sheer brilliant. This was a LOL moment. Love Maggie.

Thank you both!

Enjoyable

This wasn't some huge mystery with a bunch of over done twists in turns. It's a interesting drama that I really enjoyed listening to. Not overly exciting but it had my interest and I never got bored with it.

Gripping

Great read/listen! This book is for anyone interested in what it’s like being married to an abusive narcissistic sociopath and/or marrying into the family that raised such an individual. Fisher portrayed the personality disorders perfectly. One should know that the chapters alternate between Lara and Maggie narrating. I was a little confused at first. The narrator uses the same voice for both women and the references to their sons contributed further to my confusion. The boys names sound the same- Sam and Sondro. Keep in mind that Sam belongs to Maggie and Sondro to Lara. Once I figured it out, I couldn’t take my earbuds out. Enjoy!!!

Starts a little slow but becomes a real page turner.

I really enjoyed this book. It took me a minute to realize that each chapter at the beginning introduced a new character.that was intertwined in the story. There were unexpected surprises which kept the story interesting. A real example of the ups and downs of life and blended families.
