Publisher's Summary

Robert Greene is a master guide for millions, distilling ancient wisdom and philosophy into essential texts for seekers of power, understanding and mastery. Now he turns to the most important subject of all - understanding people's drives and motivations, even when they are unconscious of them themselves.

We are social animals. Our very lives depend on our relationships with people. Knowing why people do what they do is the most important tool we can possess, without which our other talents can only take us so far. Drawing from the ideas and examples of Pericles, Queen Elizabeth I, Martin Luther King Jr, and many others, Greene teaches us how to detach ourselves from our own emotions and master self control, how to develop the empathy that leads to insight, how to look behind people's masks, and how to resist conformity to develop your singular sense of purpose.

Whether at work, in relationships, or in shaping the world around you, The Laws of Human Nature offers brilliant tactics for success, self-improvement, and self-defence.

Lots of knowledge, but too much to grasp

this book is filled with so much information and knowledge, that I felt a bit lost and overwhelmed by it.

a workbook or a more structured summary would be a great advantage. some practical guidance for implementing these ideas into daily life would also be appreciated.

Simply profound!

I am astounded by the profoundness of this book. Robert Green has gone deep and deep and deep into the rabbit hole of human nature to unearth this gem. There is so much to learn and to understand on our own realities as human beings. I cannot help but be in awe with the level of consciousness the author must have reached to write so extensively on this matter. His research and stories are so enriching. The style of the book is also unique, you see the stories, you look at the interpretations and then you are given the keys of human nature in relation to that specific chapter you have just covered. When I reached the chapter on our mortality, it was simply the best way to wrap up this wonderful piece of art. From the depth of my heart, I say thank you to Master Robert Green. You Sir, has for sure contributed to raise my vibration and consciousness and spurred forward my own evolution further. Be blessed!

Beautiful book. Peaceful narration. Must read.

This book dethroned 48 Laws of power as my favourite. There's a lot of immediate take aways. The narration was at the right pace. Overall well done. Recommended.

can be useful

I have just finished this very interesting audiobook. Indeed full of tips and deep analyses of the diverse human personalities and feelings out there. The analyses support the common perceptions about human nature out there but with elegance and clarity that would give you a deeper understanding by the end. However my problem is I couldn't help but notice again and again the extremely cynical tone of the audiobook: basically essentially everyone is out there to get you. I'm not questioning this and not interested in that as it is very subjective. In fact the audiobook is an exercise in subjectivity of the author. Although I would say I learnt much from the little stories about the various historical figures! I would recommend this with a condition, selectively pick the tips of the book. And remember mindfulness and compassion are a better approach to connecting with people (to be fair he says presence is important)! And for goodness' sake don't manipulate people as the author recommends at points!!! Yes true story!🤨

Great book and very relevant for our times

I really enjoyed listening to this book. I have also bought the hard copy but as it's about 800 pages long and I have a young baby i was struggling to find the time to finish. i got to just over 400 pages and really wanted to read the rest so bought it on audible. Best decision

Brilliant.

Essential reading for everyone. Extremely well written and thought provoking. I simply love this book and I'm sure to re-read it. Having also read "48 Laws of Power" and "The 50th Law", I highly recommend Robert Greene's style of writing.

Amazing book!

Loved it! The book goes in depth into the subject of human nature and it does so without prejudice which was quite refreshing. It helped me understand why people behave in certain ways and how to better respond to those behaviours in order to achieve your goals. The stories it uses to illustrate a specific topic are told in a very engaging way and the voice of the narrator was very soothing. I highly recommend it!

Absolutely phenomenal

Robert Greene has managed to articulate the most interesting and thought provoking aspects of life into a single book. The narration is outstanding and the content is an absolute MUST for anyone who wants to understand human beings on a deeper level. I can not recommend this book highly enough.

A classic !

This is a spot-on, honoust observation of human nature, one of the most insightful books on this topic I encountered to date. The author has a remarkable ability to see through learned behaviour into the motives driven by human nature. Based on the same principles as his previous book, The 48 Laws of Power, but applied wider, this book discusses human nature in a straightforward manner, illustrated by fascinating biographies, and then coaches readers how to respond to those human behaviour in others and oneself, and apply aspects of our nature positively, rather than destructively. This book helped me more than any other selfimprovement book. I listened to this book 3 times, and bought it in hard copy for future reference.
The narrator is one of the best I have ever listened to.

Massive book

Feels like listening to a thesis in its enormity and essay like structure. I found it lacked personality. However, that said it's commentary is thoughtful and profound. Good listen but unsure of whether it's worth giving 28 hours to.

Outstanding!

Robert Greene has a way of explaining extremely complex topics in the simplest way. His style of writing grows neurons as you read, or better yet listen. Words that inspire, you feel immersed in the story, and as a result your smarter for it too. Robert Greene pulls together stories from history, to help explain the facts of the present, as we all know history repeats. The Laws of Human Nature is a must read or listen. I purchased the audio book and, was that impressed, I purchased the physical book too.

You don't have to read this cover to cover to understand the concepts, you can actually pick a chapter and just read what's relevant to your current situation. The book covers human nature from several different angles. Helping you to realise yourself better, interpret others better, empower you to 'take on toxic types', human motivations, and will give you the power to alter negative patterns.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to make sense of humans on a deeper level. As Robert Greene conceptualises, "You're about to become a student of human nature".

Should be in every school!

How this man managed to condense so many psychological theories into a simple narrative is beyond me. The books' structure starts each chapter with a 'story' and then deconstructs whatever the chapter is titled - greed, dishonesty, ego etc. I have listened to this book over and over again and always manage to learn/find something new. It's a novel, a guide, and a study. Now I listen to the book and also read my hard copy in unison, writing notes on the pages. It's fascinatingly obvious what Robert writes but you don't actually realise this until you read his theories, A truly magnificent book!

an insightful book about us human

it's a long book, by the end I wish it could go on for a few more chapters. deep thinking combined with some excellent stories from the past makes this book such a pleasant experience for the reader. the narrator also has an excellent voice to make the overall experience very much enjoyable.
