If you enjoy a twisty narrative with catch endings, cyborg implants, mind control, and an earth centric storyline: you’ll love this series.

Inventive story

The series is rich with details about the universe the story is set in. The plot is very inventive. The dialogue and jokes are enjoyable (aside from the rare awkward bits, which pass quickly). All of this becomes better as the saga progresses. The alien characters were well crafted. These books were so unputdownable that I stayed up too late on several nights and lost sleep.

I gave the performance only four stars because the narrator (who is brilliant voicing a wide variety of roles) would sometimes annoy me by pronouncing so many words with the emphasis wrongly on the first syllable, especially lots of words beginning with a “d.” And sometimes the narrator used what was obviously (to me, anyway) the wrong tone. Nevertheless, I’d have knocked the performance rating down by only a half star if I could have, because the narration was still very impressive.

Interesting characters

Loved the dialogue & interactions between the colorful characters. Aliens live among us just look around

Kai is the Hannibal (Ateam not cannibal) of Chi-town when one blown job lands him on an alien ship. now he's on the run from a lot longer arm of the law and will have to up his game to survive.

Great series

I liked how the writer had interwoven earth history into new possibilities. I do think there was a little too much time spent on describing details that didn’t matter.

Kind of a b-movie Scify

This is a "fun enough" series. I'm glad I listened to it, though by book 4 I will admit I was also ready for it to end.
The voice acter does a good job but has a bit of a slow paced style. Not bad. If you are into hard core science fiction, this is not really what your looking for. But if you want something light, kind of fun with a little humor this would be a good fit.

Like a Michael Bay movie with no plot. I loved it.

Meandering and pointless with lots of explosions and juvenile humor. Perfect mindless audio. The narration in the over the top Sam Spade voice was intriguing at the start but could have used some variation.

4 books for 1 credit - definitely worth it

While it fell into the trap of spending a little too much time describing battles from time to time, these books are more focused on the characters. And as added benefit, no zombies.

loved the spins on movie themes. star trek, transformers, superman,star wars and others. a couple of pokes at Craig alanson too.
