In a society steeped in tradition, Princess Lia’s life follows a preordained course. As First Daughter, she is expected to have the revered gift of sight—but she doesn’t—and she knows her parents are perpetrating a sham when they arrange her marriage to secure an alliance with a neighboring kingdom—to a prince she has never met.

On the morning of her wedding, Lia flees to a distant village. She settles into a new life, hopeful when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deception abounds, and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets—even as she finds herself falling in love.

I have been trying to find a magical/fantasy style book that was not "spicy". As I am a teacher and mom and need to keep it PG. It is obviously for teens and young adults, but the backstory is good and the plot kept my attention.
The voice acting can be a little breathy and whispers. but otherwise good.

I really enjoyed this book. After being really disappointed in the last book I purchased, this book was a breath of fresh air.

The female protagonist is independently minded without coming off as toxic towards men. She is fully capable of taking care of herself but still longs for a loving relationship, and fights for what she believes in.

After reading this book I quickly bought and read the other two, and while the story took turns I wasn’t expecting, I’m honestly glad it did. The characters in this story progressively grew throughout the entire trilogy. From a writing standpoint, I am so thankful for that because it makes characters feel so much more real.

And the narrators all did a fabulous job!

Over all, worth the credit and a fun read.

Credit Well Spent

Being that I already read the Dance of Thieves duology, not knowing this series existed.. I was very excited to go back into the world of Cam Lanteux. I really enjoyed book one & anxious to see how this story continues.

Where’s book 2?
