Publisher's summary

Twenty-three years ago, Azalyn Rippak Sulani had the misfortune of falling in love with a prince. It wasn’t long before she was chased away and forced to live a quiet life, working for a merchant family and trying her best to start over. However, after a group of aliens kidnap her and knock her unconscious, Azalyn wakes up in the Kelderan palace and comes face-to-face with the man who broke her heart. Because of certain circumstances, she has no choice but to stay in the palace. But to protect her heart and those she loves, she’s determined to find ways to resist the powerful prince and his secrets.

Prince Keltor tro el Vallen is heir to the Kelderan throne and must put duty above all else. Social connections, especially those with love involved, are dangerous. So when the only female who ever treated him as a man instead of a prince comes storming back into his life, it takes everything Keltor has to keep his distance and resist the lively, straightforward woman. Otherwise, he might start to wish for what he can’t have.

As Keltor and Azalyn start to realize that they fit better together now than in the past, they face a bigger problem. Namely, if a prince marries a commoner, there could be war. Can they find a way to recapture their love and start over? Or will Keltor’s duty to Keldera trump all?

great story

I love the way this story is going. The only problem is that I had problems separating the female voices at times when it switched between characters.
Asalyn and Keltor both grew emotionally through this book. There is quite a few surprises in this book so you won't want to miss it.

Is there a second chance at love for royalty?

This is an amazing series in book and audio. I have enjoyed them in both mediums.
I like the narrators who handle both sexes well. This story drags the emotions of the audience in every direction.
A second chance at love? Do a Prince and a merchant's daughter even have a first chance? Prince Keltor and Azalyn were young lovers. His family didn't find her suitable for the destined king and chased her away where he couldn't find her. Now, twenty-three years later, they meet again. She's been taken and beaten by enemies of the throne. Waking up in the palace to the face of her former lover was never a consideration. They both pretend time has removed all the old feelings. But has it?
The author has taken characters we've met in other books and created a compelling story. I couldn't put it down from page one to THE END. We meet another side of the stoic Prince. A side that only one person seems to bring out. Azalyn loved him for himself not his position. Something he wants again. I loved watching them try to avoid their real feelings. The outside influences and enemies challenge their lives and families. Secrets revealed, passions ignited, enemies attacking, this one has it all, including a love story you won't soon forget.
I love the world Ms. Donovan has created and look forward to more stories, more love, and new characters, as well as old friends, revisited.

The king and the shop girl...

This was a really lovely story about second chance love. The future king of the planet meets an ordinary girl when they are teenagers. We met the heroine in the previous book, and she is reunited with her only love. What he didn’t know was that she had been pregnant when the King forced them apart because he didn’t feel like she was good enough for his son. Now, reunited, they both find out that the attraction and even the love is still there. Unknown to the heroine, she had twins when she gave birth by c-section. Unmarried women who gave their child up for adoption weren’t allowed to know anything about the course of their pregnancy. Can these two find a way to be together and know their grown children, even as a civil war looms? Narration was very well performed. Looking forward to the next book in this series!

Title: The Heir
Series: Kelderan Runic Warriors
Author: Jessie Donovan
Designation: Book 3 of Series, Can Be Read As Standalone, Full-Length Novel(250 pages), NO Cliffhanger, HEA, #romance #sciencefiction #actionadventure
My Rating: Five Sexy Sci-Fi Stars*****
**Although The Heir can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the books of the Kelderan Runic Warriors Series in order of release. Donovan does an exceptional job of giving the reader necessary backstory but for maximum enjoyment, this book should really be read after first reading The Conquest: Book 1 and The Barren: Book 2.

I adore science fiction and addicted to steamy romance but throw in a generous helping of thrilling adventure seasoned with heart-pounding danger, and I'm in heaven... especially when it's not just men saving the day. Yup, this series also has women kicking butt and taking names! I love it! And Jessie Donovan delivered the perfect combination of every single one of these elements - AGAIN! Be still my heart! Obviously, this isn't my first rodeo with Jessie Donovan, so my expectations were high but Donovan not only met them, she surpassed them! It's no secret I've been a diehard fan of Donovan's paranormal romance for years, but who knew she could write such fabulous science fiction. And trust me when I say, her first foray into the stars was truly exceptional! I'm completely smitten with the Kelderan Runic Warriors Series.

The Heir is a riveting, fast-paced, exceptionally well-crafted full-length standalone science fiction romance. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with multiple perspectives, but primary points of view are from the two protagonists, Prince Keltor tro el Vallen and Asalyn Rippak Sulani. The dialogue is smart, snappy, well executed, easy to follow, and flows effortlessly. I was completely fascinated by the premise for this new series but it's the large diverse cast of engaging characters who literally exploded from the pages, ensnared my imagination and completely captured my heart. Who doesn't love beautiful, brave, strong-willed warrior heroines and courageous, protective, misunderstood and oh so sexy heroes, right? Don't get me wrong; I truly enjoy riveting sagas with intense action, adventure, danger, and suspense, but my favorite books are always character-driven storylines and Donovan's diverse cast of intriguing characters are some of the most engaging I've ever read, although I was somewhat hesitant about the male protagonist of The Heir, Prince Keltor tro el Vallen. I wasn't impressed with Prince Keltor when he was introduced earlier in the series. Actually, that's an understatement, because I didn't like him at all. However, I was smitten with beautiful, feisty, independent, commoner Asalyn Rippak Sulani. Where Keltor appeared to be bitter, cruel, aloof, selfish, and entitled, Asalyn impressed me as loyal, dedicated, determined, strong, brave, and intelligent. But I should have known, never judge a book by its cover, especially in a Jessie Donovan story, and that's all I'm gonna say! lol...

Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! The Heir is a captivating science fiction adventure romance, and like the first two books of the series is a story with a unique take on the ‘Battle of the Sexes’. Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain some steamy love scenes. If you enjoy stories filled to the brim with action, adventure, danger, space travel, and lots of drama along with hot alpha alien males who think the little woman’s place should always be at home and, of course, a cast of brave, smart, plucky heroines who refuse to be dominated, will never be at home in the kitchen, can take care of themselves, and don’t mind using all their assets, then this book is screaming your name. Oh, and let's not forget the smokin’ hot romance. *SWOON* After all, this is a Jessie Donovan story we're talking about! lol.... Will I read this author again? Duh.... Of course! Just as soon as she releases her next book! And finally was I entertained?
Completely! My heart broke for these two remarkable characters but by the end, I was happy, satisfied, and well entertained. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome reader!

Sixteen-year-old Asalyn Rippak Sulani first met Prince Keltor tro el Vallen roaming the streets of the capital disguised as a commoner. At the time, she'd had no idea the handsome young man who'd accidentally stepped on her foot was a prince, but his true identity had never mattered to her. Asalyn didn't care he was the heir to the throne of Keldara, only that she loved him, wanted to become his bride, and share a future with the man who had become her best friend and first love. Even after a year of clandestine liaisons, it was still hard for her to believe that a lowly shopkeeper's daughter could be loved by a royal prince. She was painfully aware Keltor's future was not his own, but she still believed in their love. She was confident Keltor would find a way for them to be together - only he didn't - and she lost everything, her family, her home, and any chance of happiness with the man she loved. Now 23 years later, after being kidnapped, savagely beaten, and nearly killed by a malevolent enemy with evil intentions, fate has thrown Asalyn and Keltor together again with Prince Keltor, yet again, asking for entrance into her life, effectively destroying her only chance to start her life over on Jasvar. But this time, Asalyn has so much more to protect than just her own heart. Will Keltor fail her as he did before by allowing lies and secrets to come between them? Or is he finally willing to sacrifice everything, including the safety and welfare of his planet, for a future with the only woman he's ever loved? And if so, can Asalyn find it in her heart to forgive him? We'll see! We all know fate is a fickle mistress who refuses to be denied, but the journey of these two star-crossed lovers is nothing short of extraordinary. The connection between them literally explodes from the pages - Asalyn fighting for a better life than the one forced upon her, and Keltor trying to balance the welfare of his people with happiness for himself. Sparks fly! Attraction builds! Passion ignites! Love blooms! Or should I say reblooms!?! Oh my! Buckle up, my lovelies! It's a wild
