Publisher's summary

Everyone knows about Ashburn House. They whisper its old owner went mad, and restless ghosts still walk the halls. They say it's the dwelling place of something cruel and sinister. But when Adrienne, desperate and in need of a place to stay, inherits the crumbling old mansion, she only sees it as a lifeline...until darkness falls.

Strange messages are etched into the walls. Furniture moves when she leaves the room. There's something here—something powerful, angry, and hell-bent on shaking things up. Worse, a grave hidden in the depths of the forest hints at a terrible, unforgivable secret. Eventually Adrienne can't ignore that a twisted thing lives in the house, its hungry eyes ever-watchful. Chasing the threads of a decades-old mystery, it isn't long before she realizes she's become prey to something deeply unnatural and intensely resentful.

She has no idea how to escape. She has no idea how to survive. Only one thing is certain: Ashburn's dead are not at rest.

Not just a ghost story!

Great ghost story with a couple of twists. The Haunting of Ashburn House is not for the faint of heart. Gore, ghosts, murder, & mystery!

Very Gory compared to Craven Manor

I thoroughly enjoyed a previous title by the author Craven Manor. The characters and hauntings were well done and while suspenseful. So I was looking forward to another delight.

This one was not as cozy and the level of gore described in it is vivid, and violent, and comes out of left field over halfway through the book.

I almost stopped listening and wanted to be sick, just as the character was. However I had too much vested in the characters and had to finish. It ended well, but I don’t think I will ever listen to it again.
While the other one I listen to almost every year in October/November.

Fine but lots of holes

Interesting enough, but plenty of holes and an unexpected horror component (I won’t give away just in case) but this is not as much of a ghost/haunting story as it is a horror story that doesn’t get to the horror until the last quarter of the book or so.

Truly Terrifying

This book was truly terrifying. The author made the protagonist likeable, yet flawed, which makes her all the more realistic. The story itself unfolds at a perfect pace, and by the end, had me wide-eyed and on the edge of my seat.
The narrator did a great job. She portrayed the emotions in each character really well, and gave them distinct enough voices that I was actually able to tell them apart.

A haunting with a twist of hope and light after death.

I loved this mystery, horror, haunting novel. I really Enjoyed the moments of love shared between Adrienne and Wolfgang. I actually missed Wolfgang during his brief and brave adventure into the “ darkness wooooo” ***** 5 stars 💫
