When Catherine Porter murders her only son and takes her own life, no one can understand why. Vilified for her crimes, she becomes synonymous with everything evil and wicked amongst the locals, and parents begin using her name to scare their errant children into behaving.

Soon after her death, reports begin to circulate that her ghost has been seen inside her old house. Over the years, the sightings continue, sending most of the house's occupants running from the property, screaming into the night, never to return.

When the Jefferson family moves in, they decide to hold a séance to finally rid the property of its unwanted guest. But in doing so, they unleash something even more terrifying: a malevolent force that will stop at nothing to take back its domain.

Why didn’t she have an English accent? I wasn’t sold on this narrator at all.

Narrator….

I listen to a good deal of audiobooks and no story has kept me glued from page one. A wonderful balance of everything. Not too much violence or unneeded gore, a great explanation of necessary details, great characters, a nice chill!

Although the story took place in England, the narrator did not perform with a heavy accent, which was much appreciated. I enjoy understanding what I'm listening to. Helped the story along nicely.

Best I've heard in SO long!

There is ZERO depth and I believe the narrator is at fault. Audiobooks are given life by the narrator and this one has no life and clearly no desire to tell this story. This has the potential to be an awesome story; however, you guys struck out with this narrator and I can’t get past chapter 1. I want my money back. Additionally, if English colloquialisms are going to be used, an English narrator would’ve suited.

WISH I HADN’T WASTED MY CREDITS/$$$

The story was really good, but the narrator was awful. She would randomly throw in a really bad English accent here and there, and then the rest of the book was in her normal accent. Stick with one or the other. It is set in England, so get someone with an actual British accent, or someone who can at least fake one well.

Story was great, narrator not so much

This was a fairly decent book to listen to, but I don't know why an American was narrating a clearly English novel.
it was a bit too long also it dragged out but it had a really good twist at the end.

meh
