Publisher's summary

Three coppers. Two killers. One explosive ending.

The young daughter of a local doctor is killed - shoved into an icy, fast-flowing river and cold-bloodedly left to die. Her parents stubbornly deny any involvement. The child’s father is so focused on his right to remain silent that DCI Neil Hunter, DI Barbara Forster, and DC Matt Walsh begin to wonder if he wants the truth uncovered - or ensure it remains buried. The mother, too, has her own reasons for keeping the truth dead and buried.

Then, within days, a boy is also murdered, and all three officers find themselves caught up in one of the darkest, most harrowing cases of their careers when a blizzard traps the murder suspects in a small, isolated Peak District village.

But it is investigative journalist Alice Myers who puts her life at risk going undercover in her search for the truth and justice for the victims - confronting, among others, a famous TV celebrity. And once she finds a thread to pull, a ruthless international conspiracy with a callous disregard for human life starts to unravel.

Everybody has secrets. But when secrets are laid bare, the truth can wreak havoc - and kill.

Unleashing an inexorable chain of events leading from two child murders to an officer’s death, this intricately plotted, pacy, and edgy thriller that has you hooked from the first chapter with its realistic characters, unexpected twists and turns, and gripping story line, depicts a race against time in which the mystery unfolds layer by layer. The author juggles motives and suspects, tension and suspense, keeping you guessing right until the shocking ending.

Revenge and unspeakable crimes converge on a snowbound Peak District village in...The Girl in the Red Dress.

This is the latest in the popular Alice Myers psychological crime thriller series and the best yet!

Disappointing.

Usually love this author and was looking forward to DI Barbara story. However Barbara is hardly in this one. Narrator so dead pan I couldn’t keep the characters straight. Story disjointed too. Recommend a pass

WRONG NARRATOR FOR THIS NOVEL

The narrator had and old voice and there was no variation between characters so it was hard to follow. This narrator should be reading Agatha Christie novels.

Is the main character a woman or a man?

I have to admit, the storyline kept pulling me back into this book, but the narration was so confusing I never knew if I was listening to the words and thoughts of a male character or a female character.
I would not recommend this book with this narrator. But I would imagine if you read the book you’d be fine. It’s a good story.
