Warning and minor spoilers: The Five Trials is a book intended for mature listeners age 18 years and older. It contains graphic sex, medieval violence, and nudity. People curse, piss their pants, hack off heads, get a little dizzy and tortured, seduce each other, try to seduce each other, and get scared witless by horrors from the darkest dimensions. Most importantly, you'll meet gorgeous, powerful women, some capable for hurling lightning, others of swinging battle-axes, and one that's Noah's unrequited crush from high school. All of them are willing to enter unconventional, polyamorous harem relationships if it means saving the universe, and luckily for Noah, this time it actually does.

Great story but frustrating MC

The story of the book was good, narrator was great but its annoying and frustrating that the MC always sounds meek after finally acting more forward and didnt really see how the martial arts applies if he doesnt use it...

meh... kind of annoying

went overboard on the beta mc, it can be funny, but when the guy is friendzoned by the girl he loves and pee's his pants within the first 10 minutes and spends every other moment thinking about how scared and week he is, it not funny its annoying. wouldn't recommend spending the credit on this one.

true snow ball type of story

I must be honest I hated the main character, he was whiny annoying and I almost stopped listening to the book because of it but pressed on and as I continued the better the story got and I hated the main character less and less and now I can't wait for book 2.

Captivating!

I really enjoyed the storyline and the overall tone of the book. It kept me interested from start to finish now i can'twait to continue with the rest of the series!

Realistic take on the summoned hero with harem.

You CANNOT accurately GRASP the true intentions and direction of this NOVEL WITHOUT FINISHING it.
Mike Truk has found a way to blend dark fantasy, epic fantasy, sex, and character growth into a new more reallistic take on the summoned hero and harem tropes. Even more impressive, he does so not as a "Jack of all trades" but as a "King of all trades".
Noah, the main character, starts out as an ordinary college student who is summoned to save the universe. As the first step he must select 5 companions to help him and complete 5 Trials with them to fully earn his savior title.
Just reading this summary combined with the "sex" and "adult" tags would make one assume that the book is a wish fulfilling porno. However, Noah reacts just like a normal college student would. He is confused, scared, unconfident, and doubts his eligibility to be the Savior of the Universe. Also, those around him have the same feelings regarding him until he grows into his role. Finally, there is a major shift in direction and tone to the novel about halfway through. The author does a masterful job of providing hints and foreshadowing leading up to this realistic turn of events which should only suprise readers that do not give the author enough credit to take the novel seriously.

really enjoyed

Loved the book overall. It was well written and a good story. Yes it is an adult book but it does not go overboard and any "encounters" are spaced out in between the story and fit in wonderfully. I reallly hope to see the main character grow more, he is a bit whiny in the first book, but you were starting to see progress.

horrible whiny MC

The MC is awful. This book is 16 hours of a whining crying 12 year old beta male running from conflict. He has no redeeming characteristics he pisses himself constantly both literally and figuratively. When he isnt hiding under the bed from scary vaginas throwing themselves at him he is pining for the one girl who doesnt want him. He has zero agency no agenda no plan hes not a char he is furniture that hates itself.

MC needs to actually have a head on his shoulders

Just tired of the MC not having a clue what to do. He is supposed to get stronger as time passes but that doesn’t seem to happen.

first foray

for my first excursion into the swords and sorcery harem delights I'm glad it was Mike truk and his nobody champion Noah. as far as I'm concerned Mike has all the elements of a great read . I can't wait to hear the rest of the series

great start

I enjoyed this book very much. this is the 3rd series ive started by this author and like the others did not disappoint. the narration started out annoying but only because of the whining of the mc. it changed as the story progressed and over all I think he did well. starting the second book immediately.
