Story
His hands knew how to fight. His fingers knew the ways of war. Gunny, Griz, and the crew have one more mission south of the border, the Traveler is looking to right some wrongs, and Jessie is trapped in a faraway place. The undead hordes are as vicious as ever, and a simple rescue mission gets real complicated real quick. This is the final two-fisted, gas-guzzling, gear-grinding thrill ride of the Zombie Road saga. More tales to come, but this concludes the story that started with the Convoy of Carnage.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

It's been three long years since Deadbreak. That's what everyone's calling it - the day the dead rose. Every day since then, Jeremiah Reid has had one goal: to make his way back to his daughter. With his four-legged companion, Joe, Jeremiah has to travel a lawless wasteland teeming with zombies, bandits, and worse, like people who put anchovies on pizza (you know who you are). It's a new world out there, and no one is safe. People are weary, cities are in ruin, supplies are scarce, and brains are on the menu.

Publisher's Summary
Book three in the Feral Children series
The tribe had a far distance to travel and the undead weren't their only enemies.
The hyena hunted them relentlessly, unscrupulous men wanted what they had, and even Mother Nature seemed to be against them. Even if they made it, could they put away their weapons, leave their animals behind and go back to school? Could they go back to being children or had they been too long in the wild?

As a reader of David's other series (Zombie Road) I loved that characters crossed over and made me smile as a recognized them. Only complaint (as with most good ones) it left me wanting more. And the short story had me adoring another rugged retriever and his dog.

I love the series
Just finished Feral Children 3. To me the story seamed very rushed unlike the first two. It feels like it could have been so much more. Honestly I'm pretty pissed about the ending, it felt like it was going to be a cliff hanger then it was not and the story was just over. This is seriously the first time I've been mad at the way a series ended, I kinda don't know what to do with my self. The first two books were amazing, this the final book not so much.
