Publisher's summary

Pierce

The Russians have taken far too much from me. So I’ll take something of theirs. Except, I never expected my captive to be a woman. She could be the key to destroying them entirely. I’ll do whatever it takes to get revenge. Even seduce the enemy.

Soon I discover she may not be my enemy after all.

Mila

For nearly my entire life I’ve been held prisoner by darkness and pain. And just when I think freedom is within my reach, it’s stolen by yet another man determined to break me. First with rage. Then with tenderness.

I’m helpless to resist his touch, even knowing that, in the end, all that waits for me is death.

Intense!

This is the second book in the Brooklyn Kings Series, a Mafia Romance. Pierce and Mila's enemies-to-lovers romance is dark, intense, raw, and captivating, filled with action, secrets, and twists and turns. They are both revengeful, strong, and determined. The world building is intriguing, and interesting. Eva Caine and Walker Williams did a great job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to The Beast I Can't Tame, the next book in the series. #PFPAudio

Vengeance Granted

3.5 stars - I've read plenty of over-the-top books. In most cases, it works. In this case, I felt like Pierce DeLuca and Mila were shafted. I was left feeling like their story was only half told.

This was my first time with this author. I will try again because even though I believe there's more to tell here, I do like the overall arc.

A few things to note. One, there are plenty of hints to the first book, so this should likely be read in order, but I was able to follow along fine. Two, this is more of an HFN. As the lead in for the next book was provided, it's possible their HEA comes later in the series. Three, there are some content warnings that you may want to heed, most of it is offscreen - non-con, violence, and abuse are the biggest ones.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are Eva Caine and Walker Williams. Both are new to me, and I liked them a lot. The accents weren't consistent, but I still enjoyed the experience.

Riveting

Pierce and Mila. Two people whose lives couldn’t be more different. They meet under unusual circumstances. Piece wants to torture and kill Mila (she looks like a boy not a girl when. He captures her) Mila wants to escape from Pierce and continue searching for her sister Anya. What happens between them and what they discover about themselves is what makes this story so remarkable. Don’t be fooled-things are not what seem. It’s an absolute must do to either read or listen to this book. The audio narration is excellent. The written story is equally spellbinding.

intense, action packed

This mafia story is dark, intense,
Mila helps Breanna escape only to be caught by Pierce.
He wants information from Mila. She doesn't give in. She is fierce and independent, and also Russian. That alone, he doesn't trust her.
LK Shaw develops Pierce and Mila feelings. From Enemies to lovers, Their conflicting emotions of the reasons why they shouldn't trust each other.
Eva Caine and Walker Williams narration is very good. Their telling of this story brings the intensity and angst, making it an enjoyable listen.

From enemies to lovers

Great story about how hate can turn to love when you least expect it. Captivating story that I could not put down. Can’t wait to start book 3 in this series. I’m sad there is only one book left to read in the Brooklyn King series. The writer does a great job with all the characters and you feel like you know each one personally.

The Enemy in My Bed

This is the second book in the Brooklyn Kings series. We got to meet Pierce in book one. He is Jacob’s bodyguard, best friend, and cousin. At the end of book one Jacob and Pierce went to rescue Jacob’s wife Brenna from the Russian Mafia. While there Pierce grabbed “a boy” trying to flee the compound. However that boy turned out to be Mila. She was there to seek revenge and find her sister. She had disguised herself as a young man while gaining information; waiting to strike. At first Pierce did not know if Mila could be trusted. They were both after the same man and his son. I can’t wait for Pierce’s sister’s book. Eva Caine and Walker Williams did a fantastic job narrating this book.
