A Grey Knights Novel

Two aspirants are recruited into the Grey Knights, and must hone their psychic talents if they are to join the hallowed and mysterious ranks of the Space Marine daemon hunters.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

It's a deep exploration of the Grey Knights and the events surrounding the First Armageddon War... including an appearance by the fearsome Angron, daemon primarch of the World Eaters.

THE STORY

The Grey Knights are all that stands between humanity and the ravages of Chaos. Since their secretive beginnings during the Horus Heresy, these legendary Space Marine daemon hunters have journeyed into the dark realms of the warp – and beyond – in pursuit of their supernatural enemies. Through an intensive regime of psychic training, new recruits are brought to the clandestine fortress of Titan to join the hallowed and vaunted ranks of the 666th Chapter.

More than ever, these legendary battle-brothers must be vigilant and ever ready to defend the Imperium – for the forces of Chaos are never truly defeated, and Armageddon beckons.

A deeper look at Grey Knight lore

If you like Grey Knights, this book will honestly make you like them, hate them and then sympathize for them. It's a great novel that has a great arch for the main character, Hyperion. Definitely a rollercoaster and I suggest you buy a ticket!

One of my favorites out of 100+ 40k books read

I absolutely loved this book. For me, it's in the same tier as Eisenhorn, Ravenor, Gaunts Ghosts. it was incredibly interesting, the pacing was great, the story and character arcs were well done. It also covers a significant part of the lore. Giving a lot of insight and detail on that particular event. I thought the narration was quite good. I feel like his voice really fit the tone of the grey knights. I highly recommend this book.

A gift

This tale, about a squad of Grey Knights, The Inquisition, and a daemon Primarch, is a worthwhile entry in the lore of 40k.

The "Months of Shame", a tale briefly mentioned in lore, is explored here. The tale is told through the eyes and thoughts, of a novice Grey Knight. The story shows the reader what happens in the Imperium of Man when powerful forces who are ostensibly on the same side (Space Wolves and Inquisition), come into conflict over which course of action best serves the Emperor.

The story doesn't play out in stark contrasts of "good" and "evil" actions and actors. It allows the reader to see that sometimes even when all parties want to do the "right" thing, there can be such a divergent opinion on what that thing is, that conflict is inevitable. Mix in galactic politics, space magic, and self assured personalities, and you get a recipe for a great listen.

Good book, great audio experience

All the things you want in a 40k book: some peeks behind the curtain into a secretive Imperium organization; grand events and characters; moral ambiguity leading to self-destruction, brother warriors fighting and dying valiantly against impossible odds. And all the while, nothing actually changes, so it’s all “true”

Notably a great narration experience.
