Story
We live in a hierarchical world where experience has traditionally been the key to promotion. But that period is over! Straight, clear-cut career trajectories no longer exist. Industries disappear, job descriptions change, and people's interests and passions evolve. The key to riding this wave, entrepreneur James Altucher advises, is to constantly be curious about what's next, to be comfortable with uncertainty so you can keep navigating the rough waters ahead, and most importantly, to pursue the things that interest you.

It's not you; it's your schedule. Does it sound like magic? It's not. We've all heard of circadian rhythms - those biological processes that give us jet lag and make us night owls or early birds. But few of us know just how profoundly these diurnal patterns affect our overall health. Bad habits - like skipping meals, squeezing in workouts, working late into the night and then trying to catch up on sleep during the weekend - disrupt our natural cycles. A growing body of research on chronobiology reveals just how sensitive the human body is to these rhythms all the way down to the genetic level.

One of the biggest myths that plagues the business world today is that our ability to network depends on having the “gift-of-gab”. You don’t have to be outgoing to be successful at networking. You don’t have to become a relentless self-promoter. In fact, you don’t have to act like an extrovert at all. Matthew Pollard, an introvert himself, draws on over a decade of research and real-world examples to provide an actionable blueprint for introverted networking.

Everyone would benefit from seeing further into the future, whether buying stocks, crafting policy, launching a new product, or simply planning the week's meals. Unfortunately, people tend to be terrible forecasters. As Wharton professor Philip Tetlock showed in a landmark 2005 study, even experts' predictions are only slightly better than chance. However, an important and underreported conclusion of that study was that some experts do have real foresight.

Why is Red Bull so popular, though everyone—everyone!—hates the taste? Humans are, in a word, irrational, basing decisions as much on subtle external signals (that little blue can) as on objective qualities (flavor, price, quality). The surrounding world, meanwhile, is irreducibly complex and random. This means future success can’t be projected on any accounting spreadsheet. To strike gold, you must master the dark art and curious science of conjuring irresistible ideas: alchemy.

Take stock of your life: Based on your last 30 days of work (or marriage, or parenting), would your company rehire you? Would your partner immediately recommit to you? Would your children want you to continue to be their parent? The easy answer is, "Absolutely!" But it's probably not the honest answer. Your life might read like a success story, and your parents and friends might even think you have it all figured out, but you have a secret: You feel out of place in your own life. You'd rather binge-watch Netflix than think about what's next. You're living on autopilot.

You've heard it all before.
This is another stereotypical brand building self help book where the author constantly redirects you to their website. This book really suffers in audio form as the author is speaking a million miles per hour. I found myself constantly zoning out towards the end of the book. if you're focus is entirely on podcasting, then this might benefit you, otherwise, you're not missing anything.

Had to return because of narration.
Good information in the part of the book I listened too. Author blew his own horn quite a bit, but you expect that in this kind of book. I couldn't get past the narrators high pitch voice and speaking style. I tried, but at a certain point I had to stop listening. I returned the audio book.

An excellent ‘entrepreneurial’ blueprint, written by an excellent guide; JLD. I highly recommend.
I could go on and on about this book, and the author — but I’ll just get straight to it. I’ll take the liberty of telling you the three most important things in these 250 odd pages... 1) the book is very well written - with an enthusiasm that’s contagious, 2) it outlines the exact path, a ‘blueprint’ for you to follow to create your own entrepreneurial success, and 3) the book is overflowing with firsthand, entrepreneurial knowledge - from dozens of the most successful entrepreneurs from around the world. I highly recommend; “The Common Path to Uncommon Success.” The quality of the writing and the passion for the project really shows.

Good content needs better narrator
While I love the content, this book is hard to listen to. It’s often my biggest pet peeve when a really great author thinks they are a great narrator💁 and very few are. This is an example of that. Speaking really fast and breathlessly doesn’t really appeal to me when I’m trying to digest serious content. John’s excitement comes through, but I’d definitely get a more experienced narrator. That would improve this book immensely.

The best book for entrepreneurs
This book is brilliant. I listened to it in one sitting at 2x speed on the release date, to get a full picture of the 'journey' described in the book. I am now planning to take each step that JLD describes in his book and implement them in my own journey. Many of the steps John describes in the book I am pleased to say I already do, but there are some real gems in there that need careful listening to.

Great book on hacks to grow your business
I listened to this book after a recommendation of Pat Flynn and found it inspiring. Great story, great examples and easy to follow here and now steps for growing your business and approaching your freedom.
My biggest takeaway so far is FOCUS = follow one course until success. Up until now I was running a few projects simultaneously to little or no avail. Now, I am focusing on one as of a fortnight ago and I'll see where it will lead me.

Uncommon in many aspects.
JLD is truly an inspirational case of success, one the few influencers worth to-be-followed in times of billions low-value influencers distracting people from what's important.
His passion isn't uncommon, however the way he combines it with the discipline and the genuinity he has... That's a winner!
Salute, JLD! 🤜🤛

Great inspiration
Loved that it was practical and gave clear steps. Only negative was that as the authors ‘niche’ is podcasts it was very podcast heavy with examples. It was definitely tailored more towards a service type business than product based, but saying that still a great business companion. Enjoyable listen.
