Publisher's summary

Following the events of Bloodless, the "exciting" and "nail-biting" new thriller in Preston & Child's #1 bestselling series will once again feature FBI Special Agent A. X. L. Pendergast and Constance Greene.

Against all odds, Constance has found a way back to the place of her origins, New York City in the late 1800s, and sets off on a quest to prevent the events that lead to the deaths of her sister and brother, and stop Manhattan’s most infamous serial killer, Dr. Enoch Leng of the seminal Pendergast novel The Cabinet of Curiosities, before his nefarious experiments come to fruition.

Meanwhile, in present-day New York, Pendergast is desperate to find a way to reunite with Constance—but will he find a way before it’s too late?

Best Series Ever

After stumbling across one of Agent Pendergast spinoff series, I was hooked. I proceeded to spend the next several months reading every book and all the spinoff series, Now I have to wait 6 months for the next book to come out and I feel kike there's a hole in my life. These books are the kind of books that take you into another world and I did not want to come back.

Seriously Angry

I am a Pendergast fan/follower. I enjoyed the book but I am seriously angry that I have to wait :-)…and who knows for how long!

Admittedly I tend to foreshadow and think through every scene. A couple things didn’t quite connect/make sense, but because these are my favorite, authors and characters, it was easy for me to overlook.

Patiently waiting!

Preston and Child are as good as ever w this Pendergast novel.

So much going on. So it keeps you “turning the pages”. It took me some getting use to a new narrator but I’m there w him. Great series.

Good foundu for part 2 when released!

Good overall so far. I had to cut it early, about half way through, because of the above reviews which state that it is a cliffhanger and the first of two books. The authors claim part two is soon to be published. And, what's more, you must also enjoy macabre serial killers to make the most of it! Although I did like the author's previous books, "Bloodless" and "Diablo Canyon," the jury is still out on this latest Pendergast novel. "I shall wait until then Constance!"

Brace yourself

The authors have done it again! Such a great novel that ends with a twist no one saw coming. Completely worth it.

Wild story

This was a great story following Cold Moon going on without Pendergast. I'm looking forward to the next novel.

Waiting with baited breath

I feel this is one of their best books (which is saying something). The richness of characters, the vivid painting of scenery and of course… the story. Many seem disappointed that this books leaves one hanging. I find it exciting and love the fact it gives me something to look forward to. Bravo Lincoln & Child - you’ve done it again with gusto!

Interesting arc in this series

Starting with Relic we got a monster, then later, an evil brother and a woman who hadn't aged for 150 or so years. And now parallel world time travel.

I love this series, very much miss Rene, and wish they could have got Scott Brick back. The narrator they have now is kind of bland, not a lot of difference in the way various characters sound.

Best of Series!

This is by far the best story of the entire series to date. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed with the narration of Bloodless but Jefferson Mays really uped his game with this performance. Cannot wait for the continuation! Please hurry.
