Publisher's summary

WANTED: Nanny who will put up with an infuriatingly grumpy Irish billionaire.

If you throw an Irish billionaire out of a plane at 40,000 feet, would he fly?
That's the question I ask myself on our flight when Declan Bryne told me that it’d be “grand" if I could stop talking.

I can’t help it. I’m a nervous flyer.
But that should've been my sign to hit EJECT!
Because this is doomed to fail.

He’s a total grump.
He obviously doesn’t like me.
He's too distractingly gorgeous to be around for any length of time.
And he’s made it clear that as soon as he can find another nanny, I’m gone.

But this Minnesota girl is made of tough stuff. I know I can make it through one Irish summer with one sexy Irish curmudgeon.

At least I thought I could, until he became that much harder to resist.
The more I work for Declan the more I, unfortunately, realize the truth...
Declan hides an actual, beating heart behind his stormy, gruff demeanor.
The way he is around his adorable niece, Catie, is Hallmark-worthy.
And that accent.
That suave Irish brogue makes my insides melt.

The cardinal rule of being a nanny is to not get involved with the family.
To maintain a professional distance.
Sleeping with Declan would definitely cross that line.

Some rules are meant to be kept.
Others are meant to be shattered.

Exciting news! The Bossy One is even better than before, it was updated in October 2023!

Loved it!!

Ok, first I want to say that I really did love this book. However- god save us from people who don’t communicate!! That said, the writing and dialogue are excellent. The storyline is very good as well. The narrators did a fantastic job. The steamy bits are good too - and not so many of them that they get boring. Very well done!

Loved it!

I absolutely loved every moment of the narration on this enemies to lovers romance. I listened to it all in one go and really enjoyed the accent of the male narrator. Declan and Olivia have a very unpleasant first meet on a plane. Then she becomes a nanny to his niece. Both Declan and Olivia have very strong personalities. This book is really well written and the characters are likable and relatable. The journey these two take to get their HEA is a bumpy one but has some good spice and romance. Definitely a must listen/read.

Declan and Olivia's Story . . .

Olivia became the nanny Declan Byrne hired to care for his niece, Catie. She should have known from their initial meeting that he would be a difficult man to work with. He was already grouchy at being stuck at the airport, and not pleased when her oversized duffel smacked him in the head. He tried to help her with it (for his own protection), but she refused and she was delaying the plane with her actions. Instead of taking her seat as instructed, she stood there and began searching through her purse for something. She pulled out her phone and announced he was sitting in HER aisle seat, forcing him to squeeze his knees up to fit in the other seat. She made it worse by commenting that it was good she was short because these seats would be much worse for tall people like he was! That was when he discovered she was a nervous flyer who talked incessantly to calm herself. Unfortunately, he preferred silence and snarled at her, but she continued talking for the duration of the flight. She finally decided he is grumpy and she is sure he dislikes her already. She mentioned she was fired from her live-in nanny job that morning, which reminded him he needed to hire a nanny for his niece. He finally bought her wine so she might fall asleep and give him some silence… but of course, she snored! When she awoke as they landed, he handed her the unfinished wine he had rescued, and she flung her hand as she apologized for sleeping on him which sloshed the wine all over his face! He had enough of this woman!

Olivia was puzzled when her agency called her asking odd questions about her preferences. They had intended to fire her after the last client’s feedback. But a new client had very detailed requirements and she was the only one who matched up. The job would mean two months in Ireland. But they made it clear that this was her last chance. So when she heard “his” voice cursing behind her at the airport, she wasn’t sure why he would hire her now. Then an adorable little girl spoke up and said that she and Miss Olivia were both left-handed, came from the same city, and had the same favorite color – ah, that’s what the odd questions were for!

Olivia had 2 months to work with Declan. To reassure Catie, she honestly answered her questions about her mom’s disappearance since Catie knew something was wrong and she was having nightmares as she tried to figure it all out. But when Declan realized Catie knew the truth, even though Olivia tried to tell him she had known all along, he hired a replacement for her and asked her to leave. She had started to believe that his grumpy behavior was actually hiding a kind person. She thought she would last in this job, her last chance. She might have even had thoughts that he could care about her. But when Catie’s grandmom arrived, Olivia asked her to stay with Catie so that she could catch a flight back home. What would she do now? And why did leaving hurt so much? The narrators for the audiobook version, Sean Masters and Suzanne T. Fortin, bring the “reading” experience alive for the listener. They do a good job with the voices to personalize the story and make it easy for the listener to get an accurate impression of what each character is like. It helps to set the mood, familiarize the reader with the characters, and offers a pleasant way to “read” and enjoy the book.

Love Declan

I loved this audiobook. Narrator Sean Masters has a sexy, smooth, deep Irish accent. Listening to him is super hot. Suzanne T. Fortin was a perfect fit as the female nemesis narrator. I liked how Olivia stayed strong and stood up for herself against the stubborn, boorish billionaire Declan Burn.

Grumpy Billionaire and Sunshine Nanny 🩷

This was my first book by this author and the narrators were new as well. Loved the Irish accent. 🥰
I’m a sucker for grumpy/sunshine. This one is a billionaire/nanny romance. He’s extra grumpy. She’s a nanny who had lost many jobs because of disagreeing with parents. She only ever has the best of intentions for these kids. They have a chance meeting on a plane, where they both don’t leave the best impressions of each other. He is in need of a nanny for his niece he’s on his way to pick up. She gives him a card for the company she works for. Not n a million years does he think they will ever see each other again!!!
This book has some unexpected surprises along the way and I really enjoyed every moment of it. I will be looking for book 2 once it’s on audio!!

Great Narrators

I enjoyed this book very much. The narrators did a fantastic job of capturing the characters. The story had a grumpy Hero, a sunshiny heroine, and plenty of angst. The story was a little bit formulaic, as I've found this author's work to be, but not in a terrible way. Overall, it's very worth the listen.

Excellent Story!

The Bossy One is a Contemporary Romance featuring grumpy billionaire Declan and vivacious Olivia who will soon in a twist of fate become a nanny for the uptight man’s niece after initially meeting on a flight.
Their story is a grand read whose audio narration is a captivating and enjoyable listening experience that brings their story to life and evokes all the emotional depth, vibrant characterizations, humor, tension, and sensuousness that has been skillfully transitioned from the page to audio.
