Not usually a military sci-fi fan

I think there's a good space opera in the writer! Looking forward to his future series! As for this one, there's a good balance between starry eyed mystery and action/battles to keep me interested in the story. IOW, the action moves the plot vs. the plot being an excuse for battle scenes. Also, the characters are decently drawn, although lacking a bit of depth/personal back story. I also really appreciate the lack of boys-only humor that will make me stop reading books a lot of the time in this genre - in the future if there is space travel, I guarantee there will be less dualistic concepts of gender. We're already headed in that direction (hence the ridiculous backlash happening). Looking forward to book no. 3!

Really enjoyed the continuation of the series. Can’t wait for number three. The performance was world class.

Gripping sequel to Species Seventeen

A rollercoaster of action and plot twists I didn’t see coming. I keep going back to the character development aspect in this series - there are a lot of them. But the author does a great job of keeping them distinct and relevant. The way the story ended, there has to be a book 3, right? Right??

Great story!

Wow! Military Science Fiction written by someone who understands both the military and science. It is a relief to enjoy a story that has depth, worldbuilding, and subject knowledge. Mr. Garrande is on my favorite authors list!

Patricia Santomasso does an **excellent** job bringing this thrilling sci-fi adventure to life. Her narration is crisp, engaging, and perfectly suited to the intensity of the story. Great storyline and very consistent in its development. No throwaway characters, so your paying attention to all the details will pay off. A perfect marriage of science and spirituality.

Does an great job of getting right back into the action where the first book left off. More good world building, can’t wait for the third book.

great stuff! I've really enjoyed this series so far.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next book. I love the direction it is going overall. there's a lot to enjoy here in the reading, but there's an AI that just steals the show in these novels and she is written very well. the narrator is perfect to accentuate this.

like the first, no better no worse

Narration gets very dry and monotonous in many chapters. Story tends to ramble and flop all over the place like a dead fish, often changing the subject and location mid thought or mid explanation. When location or character changes occur Narration does not change to indicate this change of story. Around chapter 6 and 7 it was difficult to continue listening at all and I would have stopped and blocked further books by this author from being recommended ever again if I had a book I was waiting for available to switch to. Even without one, it was a close thing. Your use of mid book cliffhangers will loose you many readers/listeners. FINISH THE PLOT POINT YOU ARE ON BEFORE MOVING TO THE NEXT!
