Publisher's summary

For 16 years, Kyla and Jefferson have enjoyed a seemingly perfect marriage. They share a wonderful daughter, a passionate love for each other, and a deep spirituality. But their happiness is shattered when Kyla finds Jefferson in bed with another woman - a woman who happens to be her childhood friend. If there’s any hope to repair their broken marriage, they will have to trust their faith like never before. Temptation is a moving story of contemporary people struggling through one of life’s most difficult obstacles - and trusting in God to steer the way. 11 hour bible study

Decent plot, missed opportunity with execution, no character development, the story is extremely wordy and lulls in places. This was truly a bible study lesson & showcased how you can the bible can be used to badger you into being compliant.

Random observations
6/16/18-In this installment it's been 18 years since Scandalous, Jasmine is in her 40s and I have no idea who she is...She has done a complete 180 from the person who was presented in Scandalous. I take that back, she was shallow, materialistic, narcissistic & selfish, but not treacherous on the level that has been displayed in this story. I'm curious as to how this 40 yr old Jasmine became who she is? It could not have been from the 18yrs of unfulfilled marriage and being the cause of a stalkers death (scandalous) I'm hoping this will be explained at some point.

Kyla while perky, loyal with an air of determination in Scandalous -at 40 in this installment - she is naive as a 20 year old? I found that hard to believe. She made several naive statements i.e. if he loved me he couldn't be in bed with another woman. I think any woman in her 40s knows that sex and love are not dependent on each other. Her dialogue is unnecessarily repetitive. I didn't get the impression that she could not think or make decisions for herself, but that was who she was in this book.

Alexis was rigid , close minded & very unlikeable.

The push for immediate forgiveness was a bit much. The victim in this story was badgered into submission. You almost felt sorry for her. In 24 hours, she was expected to find her best friend in bed with her husband, accept it, forgive, forget and move on and be a dutiful wife. There is forgiveness and then there was this story. It didn't leave me with a good feeling about the overall message.

Why do women have to forgive?

I have 4hrs left and I’m sick of these types of books! It makes no sense that everyone expects the wife to forgive her husband for cheating on her with her “BFF”. Then the audacity to use God and the Bible as their way to shame her for not wanting to talk to him is crazy to me!! The woman has a right to be hurt! I’m not going to finish this book.

Marriage can be good

Would you consider the audio edition of Temptation to be better than the print version?

I did not get the print version but I imagine the audio would be better. The dialogue was really good so the audio version brings the characters to life.

Would you be willing to try another book from Victoria Christopher Murray? Why or why not?

I would read more stories by this author. The characters were relatable and simply human. Murray describes each character's emotions well and draws you in to them. You sympathize with all of them equally.

What aspect of Caroline Clay’s performance would you have changed?

Clay's performance was fantastic. Her ability to convey three different men's voice was incredible.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were several moving moments in the piece.

It was ok...

I did like the book but nothing wowed me like other books do. It was all pretty predictable. I easily got distracted at different times in the book because it bored me. It did show a great example of how to handle things in a Godly way even though it can be a tough situation sometimes. Other than that it was an Ok book.

so real

The problems are real, but the way they handle them makes you question if you are handling your problems the way God would want you to. I wanted to beat up Jasmine, but by the end I realized we are all Jasmine in some way.

Good theme. Performance was outstanding .

The theme was good and necessary. I found it a bit hard to relate to the gullibility of the main character, Kyla. This subject should definitely be discussed in the church community. I would recommend this book. The narrator was amazing!

Spiritual development

This book is definitely a must read. It has Everything,! Love, hate, distrust, betrayal and forgiveness. I love the way verses of the Bible are included. I have many books and my library but this one has definitely had an impact on my life.
