Great Book

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The story was so good from beginning to end and presented so well by Nora Robert’s. This is one of my favorite audio books, from being a delightful Irish story, to not wanting to put it down.

Another great one!

Haven’t read a Nora Roberts book I didn’t love. This is really a cute romance story! I would recommend this to any one looking for a cute rom com! Great grab it!

So this was Nora’s first novel — and it shows

Pretty simplistic and too short for the development of a real relationship. One thing that annoyed me —— when the book began Adelia’s hair was red, in the middle it was chestnut, and toward the end it was auburn!

Happy ever after

I enjoyed the simplicity of the story, with the hope of happy ever after. Nora, bever fails to entertain.

Narrative

The narration was hard to listen to. The narrator’s voice had the same intonation throughout the reading. The story line was too predictable!

Not what I was expecting.

I found the readers voice and tonal quality too low and grating for the context of the book. Made it to 4 chapters before I returned it.

Great Book

Liked everything about it. The subject, the narration, the way the story spun out ; there wasn't a word I'd change. Nora's work is timeless. Never gets old. I've read this series about 10 times...never tire of it.

Good rainy day story

Good romantic rainy day story. I love reading Nora Roberts, she alway distresses my mind.

Charming! Must be read in its VINTAGE context.

This book was written in 1981. I believe it’s unfair to rate & review it according to modern standards. This is one of my all time nostalgic favorites by Nora Roberts. She’s always been incredibly talented, and it’s an injustice to compare this title to her modern sophisticated romantic suspense novels. It’s a five star read relevant to other romance novels of the same time period, so you’ll enjoy it most by listening to it in that context.

Romance writing in 1981 was very, very different. The length, writing style, plotting, characterizations, relationship dynamics, descriptions of physical intimacy and attitudes toward women in this book are all a reflection of the societal norms of the era.

The characters are charming, lovable, sexy and sincere. So is the entire story. It’s a sweet, heartfelt, simple romance with some great depth to the characters, and can be enjoyed in that light.

Great narrator! Especially her voicing for all the Irish characters. A lot of the narration reviews are quite negative, but imho, it’s the technical recording quality, rather than the narrator herself, that people are reacting to. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I did have to make some allowances. Once I got used to it, I enjoyed it. It would definitely be nice if Nora splurged to re-record this audiobook with more modern sound equipment, though.
