I agree with another reviewer who stated that you can tell this is an older work of Nora Roberts. It's definitely not her best, but it was entertaining. In this day in age, it's pretty cliche, but if you know the author's other, more well rounded work, it's easy to forgive.

A love story about two very different people and a small boy who find love to last a lifetime.

Fun, light

A fun, light listen. Made me smile. Performance was good. Predictable, but sometimes that is comfortable .

Charming Super Romance

Really charming romance obviously written post Harlequin, pre cell phones. Single mom Hester moves upstairs from graphic novelist Mitch, who quickly becomes a very important part of her life, and her son, Radley.
I really appreciate Taz, the talking dog, since I have a talking cat ;D
Campbell does a great job creating a romantic, moody narration.
Recommend when you need that heart healing romance without the sappiness. And lots of smiles.

Would you consider the audio edition of Local Hero to be better than the print version?

yes, as you may miss the small inflections of humor if you are a very fast reader.

What did you like best about this story?

Our young man's great outlook on life, his understanding he doesn't have a dad, and most of all his love and respect for his single mother. It doesn't get better than this to give you a bright smile and a warm glow in your heart.

What aspect of Cassandra Campbell’s performance would you have changed?

I have listened to her with MacLoud Andrews and they are good together. She has a good range, but needs to learn to deepen her male voices and she would be good to go. This is one of her short comings. Her young voices are good.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

So many parts make you light up, Tasz's scenes, Kay's "lunch break" save the day, and most of all Radely's great zest for life!

Ms Roberts can really write great stories with young people in them. This is one of her many gifts in writing. No wonder people continue to buy her books, especially her original short romance classics. See her MacGregor series, yum

One of my favorites! I’ve read it 3 times!

This book is awesome — it has everything: romance, a cute kid, a “talking” dog, and a wonderful story. Also, the narrator is amazing! She did a great job!

MY HERO

I've read this book(listened) at least 10 times and never do I tire of it. It's still fresh, still has that special appeal, still has that wonderment about it. One of my favorites.

The BEST kind of hero

Perseverance paid off. Three different heroes were in this book. Nora Robert’s tells a beautiful and eloquent story in half the words that any other author would need.

Thankfully, the title, which I think is atypically NOT representative of this book, I managed to pretty much ignore due to the Joy I share with so many readers of Nora Roberts' books.

I have been through several years of health issues and family activities, but today started with such a number of obtrusive phone calls that I disabled phones and Internet after letting my family know,

Then YES, this book I have saved for a quiet day. And the wait was more than worth it! The love of a young mom sacrificing for her only son. Always great relationships, adding in decisions about the hope of tomorrow for these genuine twosome or ? threesome ? as Nora
