Publisher's Summary

"I became a life insurance salesman in London in May 1969 for the glamour, the fast cars, the groupies...the beautiful women who'd stop at nothing to buy life insurance. It's a very well-kept secret."

Thus begins Peter Rosengard's extraordinary account of his life so far and the endless adventures in which he made, lost, and remade a fortune; founded London's famous Comedy Store; discovered and managed some of the greats in stand-up comedy; turned an unknown boy band into a chart-topping sensation; and, from a cold call in a public phone box, sold the world's biggest ever life insurance policy for $100m - for which he is still celebrated in the Guinness book of records.

Critic Reviews

"Few careers outside show business have encompassed such vivacity, such bravado, such adulation, such immodest rewards- in short such sexiness." - Richard Askwith. The Evening Standard :ES Magazine
"If Peter Rosengard writes half as well as he talks, this is a work of genius. If he writes half as fast as he talks, you will have finished reading this before you started." (Howard Jacobson, Booker Prize winner)
"Peter Rosengard is quite, quite mad- but is also brilliant and funny and can sell anything to anyone. As many of us know to our cost." -John Lloyd, TV producer ( QI, Blackadder, Not the Nine o Clock News)

Living version of Forest Gump

Entertaining story of the living version of Forest Gump. Nothing about how to sell insurance, but the many adventures the author explored. Enjoyed listening to it on my drive.

interesting delivery

I got this audio having one thought in mind- techniques on how to talk to strangers... I walked away, or should I say I finish laughing, at the delivery of how to talk with strangers..." it is not a technique, it is simply 'just talk' with strangers..." in my opinion it was smartly written - Peter had me laughing..

great storytelling and anecdotes

I really enjoyed this book. At first I thought the audio was an issue but it was my headphones. I changed the headphones and really love the humor, knowledge and experience Peter shared.

Not a wild adventure!

The author clearly tries to deliver some Hunter S Thompson style take on his own life adventures, but flips from one mondaine story to the next with no real connection what so ever.
This narcissist look at one man's life journey is both written and narrated by himself, which make this audible book twice as unbearable than the hardback.
Avoid.

Amazing real story (loved every Chapter of Book

This Guy sold me a policy (over Breakfast !!)
When later in life I was diagnosed with a terrible illness , the safety net of that policy probably / potentially saved me from jumping off a Bridge (really !!)
As he brought me two crumpled Cheques ( on his Scooter).

Brilliant

A well written book on an amazing life (salesman)! Everything you need to know about how to sell life insurance at the same time as eating multiple breakfast every day, which is surely a contradiction.

What an inspiring life

What an inspiring life from an unexpected source. Peter is an example of someone who knows their own truth, shows that life is what you make of it and to live your best life by working with whatever you have inside to offer.

I'm also especially pleased that I have had the opportunity to be among the strangers Peter has talked to.

Life changing read

I had hopes reading this book to learn how to sell. Boy did I get a bargain, not only did I get tips on how to sell but I also a life adventure from a man who has seen the ups and downs of life, who is still selling and winning. Upon hearing Peter’s voice and his captivating story telling I could not put this book down. I only wish it was longer. A must read for all sales people and people looking for an insight to one of the most charismatic and remarkable people in this world.

Keep Strong!

Go in one ear and out from other

Story is boring in my opinion, too many long situations. I couldn't finish any chapter
