Sir Tony Robinson is a much-loved actor, presenter and author with a stellar career lasting over fifty years. In this autobiography he reveals how the boy from South Woodford went from child stardom in the first stage production of Oliver!, a pint-sized pickpocket desperately bleaching his incipient moustache, to comedy icon Baldrick, the loyal servant and turnip aficionado in Blackadder.

It wasn't all plain sailing though. Along the way he was bullied by Steve Marriott, failed to impress Liza Minnelli and was pushed into a stinking London dock by John Wayne. He also entertained us with Maid Marion and Her Merry Men (which he wrote and starred in) and coped manfully when locked naked outside a theatre in Lincoln during the live tour of comedy series Who Dares Wins. He presented Time Team for twenty years, watching countless gardens ruthlessly dug up in the name of archaeology, and risked life and limb filming The Worst Jobs in History.

A great story

This was a fabulous way to rest while having Covid. Fun small stories in a larger overall arch. Mr Robinsons voice is restful and pleasant.

Robinson's Career More Complex

Having only been aware of Tony Robinson first from Blackadder then Time Team and his walking tours of England, I had no idea how long and to what extent his acting career was. I was surprised to learn that he read the Terry Pratchett books. (I tend to give abridged books a miss.) After reading this book, I'll have more to explore.

Oh Rise Sir Baldrick

Entertaining from start to finish. The story of an unbelievable career. Well written, well read.

Great audible book as read by Sir Tony Robinson

If you are interested in hearing Sir Tony Robinson read his autobiographic book, you will not be disappointed. Many great stories concerning his early career, family life, and adventures while filming for his roles in Blackadder and Time Team for Channel 4.

This is a great listen!

Tony Robinson is a Genuine Treasure

"No Cunning Plan" is irreverent throughout, poignant and affecting at times and thoroughly entertaining. Don't forget that this autobiography comes from a well-seasoned charmer not only of the screen and stage, but also of the script and page.
