Summoners are born, not made.

For Bran of Ealdor, this is the one thing stopping him from becoming a member of the legendary warriors known as summoners. They are gods among men who can call monsters into battle to fight alongside them.

Mages, Rangers, Beastmasters, Protectors, Hunters, and Lancers. These are the six classes of summoners.

None of which Bran can become.

Until one day, when a griffin crash lands into the stable, a summoner riding on top of the beast.

That day, everything changes for Bran. He is thrust into a world of magical creatures and their masters, and he soon discovers just how unique he is among them. But being special puts a target on his back. Some of the most powerful summoners in the world would do anything to discover just what makes him so special.

Summoner’s Shadow is a LitRPG series that occurs in a medieval fantasy world. Bonding with monsters grants a summoner special abilities, dictated by the monster type and their class. Monsters can be leveled up, augmented, and evolved.

DB King hits it out of the park with this series and has me completely enthralled with this serious! Great characters, plot, and supporting cast along with great narration topped with this one being an Omnibus makes it all the better!

Love me a great LitRPG series!

I liked the ideas of the world(s) but the books need to be reviewed for repeating the same information over and over.

a pretty standard coming of age

so I love the world this book takes place in. if you like pokemon and you like DnD this is up your ally. narration is good and the plot isn't bad. I stopped listening halfway through the omnibus but I would like to know how it ends.
what I struggled with is the main character. main character has chosen one syndrome with a healthy dose of "what i need conveniently shows up"
because of that the main character never felt like he was in danger. his starting powers are so absurd that you know going in that there is going to be a convenient loop hole for them to wiggle out of.

I will say however. the setting and world building were top notch just wish character was driving the plot and not the other way around.

best honest review I can give.

The story and premise was great, and very interesting. but that potential was lost by how often the same stuff was repeated. Almost every time something happens within the story, whether that be a single libe of biology, or a single action in a scene, there are 4-5 lines of "context". it would be fine except the details being mentioned have already been drilled into my head and dozen times. We don't need to be reminded who is related to who and exactly what that could mean every single time one of the individuals in question are mentioned or speaks up. that's just one vague example. Honestly the idea of the story is fun, but the author needs work. I will not be waiting for or buying the other books in this series when they come out, even if they are in another bundle like this one.

Not worth buying unless it's a bundle, and even then...

After finishing book 1 and 2 I thought I would get a better experience and something to keep me hooked. Sadly no the book moves slowly with the MC grinding to get stronger and monsters that just became the same old same old. I couldn’t finish book 3. I hit chapter 20 and made my decision that the series was not good enough for me to continue.

Books 1 and 2 had me in it. But
