Publisher's summary

Foreword by Mark Hyman, MD. Preface by Andrew Huberman, PhD.

You know you should be meditating, so what’s stopping you? This entertaining and enlightening audiobook by the founder of Ziva Meditation - the favorite training for high achievers - will finally take meditation mainstream.

“We meditate to get good at life, not to get good at meditation.” (Emily Fletcher)

In our high-stress, overworked lives, we think the answer to accomplishing more is to do more. But the best advantage we can give ourselves is to take a mental break - to spend a few minutes of the day giving the body and brain rest. Did you know that a brief meditation can offer rest that’s five times deeper than sleep? When you make time to practice the "Z Technique" this audiobook teaches, you’ll actually be more productive than if you took an hour-and-a-half nap or had a cup of coffee.

A leading expert in meditation for high performance, Emily Fletcher has taught meditation at numerous global corporations, including Google, Barclays Bank, and Viacom, to help their employees improve their focus and increase their productivity levels. With Stress Less, Accomplish More, anyone can get the benefits of her 15-minute twice-daily plan. Emily specifically developed the Z Technique for working people with busy lives. Now, you can learn to recharge anywhere, anytime - at home or at your desk. All you need is a few minutes and a chair (no apps, incense, or finger cymbals required).

This is not just another meditation guide. In Stress Less, Accomplish More, Emily teaches a powerful trifecta of mindfulness, meditation, and manifesting to improve your personal and professional performance, clarity, health, and sleep. You’ll learn how to cultivate mindfulness through brief but powerful exercises that will help you stop wasting time stressing. Plus, you’ll get manifesting tools to help you get crystal clear on your personal and professional goals for the future.

Filled with fascinating real-life transformations, interactive exercises, and practical knowledge, Stress Less, Accomplish More introduces you to a revelatory daily practice and shows you how to make it work for your modern life.

Conflicted

I found out about Emily when she was on Mark Hyman’s podcast. He clearly believes in what she’s doing and has done for him. I’m now convinced he hasn’t ready this book though. In fact the glowing reviews I keep seeing always reference Emily herself, her in person meditation classes, NOT her book ...and after all it’s the book we’re reviewing, right?

And that’s why I’m conflicted: By all accounts Emily seems to be a great meditation teacher and to have a unique technique, but this book is just a thinly veiled sales pitch for her other offerings. The technique itself outlined in the book is pitched as being adapted for the book audience as opposed to the full strength version you’d get if you take the online course or see her in person. The remainder of the book is filled with Ziva Meditation testimonials; only 1 small section is actually dedicated to learning “the practice.”

Emily seems legit. This book, however, is not.

there is nothing in this book

If you're looking for helpful meditation techniques, you won't find them here. What you'll find is an entire book on how great her meditation course is (found elsewhere), and how meditation in general is beneficial. I can't believe I wasted a credit on this.

Repetitive Infomercial

A chapter on the benefits of meditation? Sure. Two chapters on the benefits of meditation? Ok, I'll take it. Now tell me about the meditation technique. Oh, another chapter on the benefits of meditation. I'm sure we'll be getting to the technique soon. Nope. But did you know that meditation might cure Parkinson's?

In this 7 hour book there was exactly 1 hour dedicated to the actual technique and that chapter repeats the technique a few times. So probably 25 minutes out of 7+ hours on the actual Ziva technique.

Here is the technique: twice a day in the morning and late afternoon/evening do 1 minute of mindfulness meditation, then 10 or 11 minutes of mantra meditation using ONE as your mantra, then think about what you are grateful for, then spend 2 minutes imagining something you really want to manifest it. Maybe there is more if you pay for the program but that's basically what you get in this book in the way of actual technique.

This is a boring comercial of the Ziva Meditation Course.

I bought this book hoping to understand and learn about the Ziva Meditation. Unfortunately the author is very repetitious in her efforts to sell the her Ziva Meditation Course. The course itself may or may not be effective, I wouldn’t know because I never did it. But this book is nothing but a comercial to sell the course. I was very interested in the Ziva technique, I am not so sure anymore :-(

Déjà vu, I recognized where she's borrowing from!

Most of the book is an infomercial for her classes and the rest is "borrowed" advice from Tony Robins, Wayne Dyer, Esther Hicks etc (She does credit them SOMETIMES) - To be honest... is a throw away book after chapter 12 when she reveals the technique.

Sales pitch for other meditation program

I made it up to chapter 9 and I am still waiting to read something meaningful. The first 4(ish) chapters are a sales pitch for the book which I found odd because..... I'm already reading the book. The points it makes are painfully and irritatingly repetitive. I'm going to try to continue because I'm almost halfway done (still no meditation techniques outline). If it repeats the same 3 things in the next chapter I will gladly retire this one permanently.

Great Information... When you get to it!

I honestly liked the book, but I feel like there was too much time spent convincing me to meditate. There was a lot of information about the benefits of meditation. I personally, didn't need convincing. I bought the book because I wanted to meditate! I just wanted to learn her method. The actual instructions consisted of basically one chapter. Having said that, I 100% believe in her process for meditation and have successfully accomplished it and feel the benefits.

Infomercial

Bought audio due to my admiration of Mark Hyman, however, this book is a sales pitch for Fletchers Ziva Meditation courses. I was hoping for more meditation techniques not a carrot hanging leading to her online courses.

About benefits of meditation

One of my major pet peeves is when a speaker speaks in the interrogatory rather than the declaratory voice. When a statement is made, it is made with the inflection of asking a question rather than the inflection of statement. The book is a good outline of the benefits of mediation. I began to meditate a few years ago but fell off the meditation wagon a few months ago. This book inspired me to get back on my meditation track. Her points are important and helpful so it would have had better production value without the constant interrogatory tone. The narrator's (who in this case is also the author) constant formation of statements in the form of a question drove me crazy. The repeated "book bonus" sales pitches were also annoying.
