I've learned much. This author writes well, and the practice descriptions are easy to follow (not necessarily easy to do since it does take practice). This book is definitely one I'd like to have on my shelf. Excellent read.

I liked the practical and realistic application of mindfulness to daily life. I liked the focus on attention. As someone who has practiced mindfulness meditation for fifteen years, I found the recommended practices useful and the research behind it fascinating.

I enjoyed the fact that she talks about meditation in the way that can be applied easily. Meditating isn’t keeping your mind on one thing. It’s becoming comfortable with the fact that your mind is intended to wander and becoming comfortable with it and focus..

I first heard about Dr. Amishi Jha on a Ted Talk 4 years ago and thought her work was very interesting. I heard about this book after watching her interview on JRE. I’m still listening to the book and will update my review after I finish it.

This is the most practical instruction in mindfulness I've ever read or listened to. It just clicks. It's hard to know how much time is necessary with most teachers simply giving you the vague "more is better" approach. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in how and WHY you should incorporate a mindfulness practice. Even a short 12 min per day is all you need and anyone can do that. I'll have to listen to this a couple more times as throughout I was reminded how little I was actually paying true attention as I was continuously made aware of how much the attention wanders, haha. I wish Amishi would have taken the time to read this herself but Xe Sands is an excellent narrator and is very engaged with the material. Go get it now and get a grip on that attention of yours!

A book that clarifies the nature of awareness and provides a blueprint on how to be attentive in the present. A book that explains what meditation is about and how it may uncloak the mind’s potential. It does so without the frill of mysticism or religion or preconceived rituals.
