Story
For thousands of years, scientists, philosophers, and self-help gurus have wrestled with one of the basic conundrums of human life: Why do we do the things we do? Or, rather, why do we so often not do the things we want to do? In You're a Miracle (and a Pain in the Ass), McHargue addresses these issues. We like to think we’re in control of our thoughts and decisions, he writes, but science has shown that a host of competing impulses, emotions, and environmental factors are at play in every action we undertake.

ABC News anchor Dan Harris used to think that meditation was for people who collect crystals, play Ultimate Frisbee, and use the word namaste without irony. After he had a panic attack on live television, he went on a strange and circuitous journey that ultimately led him to embrace a practice he'd long considered ridiculous. Harris discovered that meditation made him more focused and less yanked around by his emotions. According to his wife, it also made him significantly less annoying.

Rumi's inspiring and deceptively simple poems have been called ecstatic, mystical, and devotional. To writer and activist Melody Moezzi, they became a lifeline. In The Rumi Prescription, we follow her path of discovery as she translates Rumi's works for herself - to gain wisdom and insight in the face of a creative and spiritual roadblock. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Humanity now, perhaps more than in any previous time, has an opportunity to create a new, saner, more loving world. This will involve a radical inner leap from the current egoic consciousness to an entirely new one. In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. Then gently, and in very practical terms, he leads us into this new consciousness. We will come to experience who we truly are and learn to live and breathe freely.

LIFE CHANGING!!!!!!!!!

Publisher's Summary
Many of us live on autopilot, often so guarded that we don't experience the richness that life has to offer – so how can we find real happiness amid the chaos, so we don't reach the end of our life and feel like we missed it?
In Stop Missing Your Life, mindfulness teacher Cory Muscara takes us on a journey into the heart of what is required for real change, growth, and happiness. He exposes how the phrase "be present" has become little more than a platitude, imbued with the misguided message to be present just for the sake of being present, and reveals how to achieve true Presence: a quality of being that is unmistakably attractive about a person, and one that only comes when we've peeled back the layers of guarding that prevent us from being our full, honest, and integrated selves in the world.
Muscara shows how we build internal walls, what he describes as a "Pain Box" inhibiting us from living a deeply connected and meaningful life. He offers a four-part FACE model (Focus, Allow, Curiosity, and Embodiment) that helps chip away at those walls and builds our capacity to experience the richness of our lives Stop Missing Your Life ultimately teaches how we can find peace in the chaos and become better people for our families, our communities, and our world.

it's a meditation book
I would not have purchased it if the review had said what it is. it is a meditation book through and through. it delves deeper and deeper into meditation as the book moves on. interesting, but not what I was expecting. The reader pronounces words poorly, and several sentences are repeated.

This book saved me!
Recently I got my heart broken after the sudden broke up with my ex-girlfriend. I was sad, confused, self doubted, and miserable.
I accidentally download audible and the title of of this book got my attention. This is the first audiobook I listen on audible, and it helped me a lot!
By the meditation practices introduced in this book, and all the practices about mindfulness, self awareness, and embodiment. Gradually I started to connect with myself and live more mindfully. Although it still hurts, and it’s so hard to experience all the sadness, but I am not that afraid anymore. I could feel both the sorrow and happiness in my daily life. I am happy to be human now, and started to be grateful about all the incidence happened in my life.
It was really an enjoyable and inspiring experience listening to this book.
Thank you Cory for being all your wisdom and work to the world!

Very Insightful
I honestly didn't think I'd like this book but there were tons of little nuggets that I've incorporated into my meditation practice already. Great job on focus, presence and just having conversations within ourselves and speaking to those parts of us that we hide. I love the concept that everyone has fears, issues, pain and feel discomfort. I keep forgetting that when I experience contrast in my life. And the cow paths! Oh wow!!! Becoming my own best friend has been my m.o. for a while now...and its reassuring to hear someone else say its necessary. Just a great book if you're really trying to learn or unlearn things about yourself. Thank you for sharing your experience...now I don't have to go to a Buddhist monastery for these simple lessons.

truly recommend - useful, practical, inspiring
Engaging content, sensibly laid-out, well read by the author. Recommending it to my friends and family.
The only negative I noticed in the audio version is that there were a few words or phrases that repeated, like something had gone awry with the sound file or editing. But it wasn't annoying enough to detract from the book.
Really great, I'm sure I'll want to listen again in a few months.
