Publisher's summary

Alcohol is an intense, addicting poison that will slowly eat away at you.

The struggle with alcohol is one that’s seemingly never-ending.

My journey to going alcohol-free started with the day I was told that I had 48 hours left to live due to consumption.

You may know that too much of anything isn’t good for you, but there’s nothing good about alcohol. It’s a silent killer, perpetuated by society as a fun, lighthearted action. How much about alcohol do you really know?

It’s time you cut ties with alcohol for good, because it’ll save your sanity and might just save your life.

Eye-opening

I'm now in my 40s and have recently heard of more and more friends giving up alcohol for health reasons. This book clearly lays out the case for doing so. if you are considering making this life-changing decision but need a little motivation in doing so, I highly recommend listening to this book.

Relatable!

The stories told throughout this book will resonate with many! I particularly like the point that is made about how society shouldn’t put a label on those that struggle with drinking. That really sat with me as I am one of the many that used to struggle with it. Great book, worth the listen!

Good Motivational Book

The writer motivates and cheers on the reader throughout the book by sharing different perspectives and strategies. I was hoping for a little more science background that went into detail about the impacts of the body and how alcohol can cause the body injury. How does it cause cancer? Are certain people with certain genes or bodily characteristics or autoimmune disorders more susceptible to damage caused by alcohol?
Good book to motivate those wanting to quit drinking.

Tough love

The author uses his story as a wake-up call, and I think a lot of people could benefit from hearing it. It's both compassionate and full of real-world solutions and strategies. It'll really have a giant impact on listeners. Great narration too.

Beneficial Information!!

I found this book to be very interesting.
During the course, I learned a lot about the infects of alcohol as well as the benefits of not drinking at all.
It gives information on what social drinking can do to you as well as the benefits of not drinking at all.

Repetitive

Not the book for me. Very repetitive regarding his experience with liver disease and social drinking. Just overall very repetitive. It was a bit hard for me to listen to. But, for the right person, this book could be great.

Motivation for the New Year

I’ve wanted to go alcohol-free for ages, but haven’t found the right motivation. This was a well-written, informative take that gets me excited to build new habits that don’t involve alcohol for the new year.

Motivating and helpful!

Philip, thanks for this audiobook and for sharing your story. I lost an uncle from complications due to his dependency on alcohol. He was the youngest of siblings from my mother's side, he was only 8 years older than me. I did not know how to help him back then, but thanks to your audiobook I see that there are solutions to overcome this dependency. For your next book, I will suggest you write about how this dependency affects not only the alcohol consumer but also all the people around him and which techniques we can learn to support our loved ones that are deep stuck into this addiction.

I recommend this book to everyone.
