An aircraft carrier adrift with a crew the size of a small town. A killer in their midst. And the disgraced Navy SEAL who must track him down . . . The high-octane debut thriller from New York Times bestselling writing team Webb & Mann—combat-decorated Navy SEAL Brandon Webb and award-winning author John David Mann.

A BARRY AWARD NOMINEE“Sensationally good—an instant classic, maybe an instant legend.”—Lee Child

The moment Navy SEAL sniper Finn sets foot on the USS Abraham Lincolnto hitch a ride home from the Persian Gulf, it’s clear something is deeply wrong. Leadership is weak. Morale is low. And when crew members start disappearing one by one, what at first seems like a random string of suicides soon reveals something far more sinister: There’s a serial killer on board. Suspicion falls on Finn, the newcomer to the ship. After all, he’s being sent home in disgrace, recalled from the field under the dark cloud of a mission gone horribly wrong. He’s also a lone wolf, haunted by gaps in his memory and the elusive sense that something he missed may have contributed to civilian deaths on his last assignment. Finding the killer offers a chance at redemption . . . if he can stay alive long enough to prove it isn’t him.

Wow! This is the best thriller I’ve read in a while. If you enjoy trying to figure out who did it, you will enjoy this one. The vivid descriptions of the characters and actions pulled me in early and I listened to the entire book in one session. The narrator was excellent as well and elevated the drama with his delivery.

A smart, captivating, and haunting story that pulls you in tight for a straight through listen.

Character development is great with a very compelling plot. I listen to a lot of SEAL/war oriented action and murder mystery thrillers. This is more of the latter with a Naval setting, but really enjoyable thriller. Narration was very good. Hope his others are just as good.

Great for a first time author- more a murder thriller than a war novel

I’ve enjoyed all of Webb’s non fiction books and his foray into fiction did not disappoint. I’m looking forward to going through the rest of the series

I loved the fact right when you thought what was going to happen the zig...zagged

kept me guessing

The author has never been to Texas before, because any reference he made to El Paso and “West Texas” were weird and didn’t make sense. Seriously, a character remembering being in the woods of El Paso? You mean the thick cacti as far as the eye can see? And a Texas rancher family wanting their kids to call their parents by their first names? Seriously?

The author also doesn’t have enough information about how service members operate, to make a convincing story set in their midst. And he relies on his protagonists super human photographic memory to make the right dots connect.

Also, the leftist political bias was shoehorned into scenarios that didn’t need it.

It was an O K A Y thriller, if you suspend your disbelief hard enough.

I liked the premise. It would have been better as a standalone, rather than as a part of a series.

Enjoyed listening to this. Entertaining story. The end got a little silly, but overall would recommend.

Good read

Liked the plot line, although it took a long time to develop the story line. It was dozens of chapters before the characters even knew a murder had occurred. And I felt like they took the obvious pc route at the end but overall it was a good story, especially if you enjoy the military and a mystery.
