Publisher's Summary

"This guy does next level stuff. I have worked with him and I have no idea how or why he is able to do some of the things I have witnessed. Science is just catching up with biohacking. It’s time to start studying spirit hacking and how Shaman Durek can achieve the tangible results he achieves." (Dave Asprey, author of the New York Times best seller The Bulletproof Diet, Silicon Valley investor, and technology entrepreneur)

This program is read by the author, and includes a foreword read by Dave Asprey.

In Spirit Hacking: Six Shamanic Keys to Reclaim Your Personal Power, Transform Yourself, and Light Up the World Shaman Durek, a sixth-generation shaman, shares life-altering shamanic keys allowing you to tap into your personal power. Through new information you will banish fear and darkness from your life in favor of light, positivity, and strength.

Shaman Durek’s bold and sometimes controversial wisdom shakes loose our assumptions about ourselves and the very world around us. He ultimately teaches us how to step fearlessly out of this Blackout (the age of darkness we are currently experiencing) and access a place of fierce empowerment by use of tools and techniques of timeless Shamanic tradition. This transformation is both personal and collective; as individuals step out of darkness and begin to experience the light, we bring our loved ones and communities out of the shadows as well.

Shaman Durek inherited a rich legacy of ancient wisdom and now shares this knowledge for a modern context. He advises everyone from celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow and Nina Dobrev to innovative executives such as Bullet-Proof Coffee founder Dave Asprey.

Spirit Hacking shatters listeners’ complacency, giving them tools to navigate the tumultuous times in which we find ourselves. We will emerge from this period happier, lighter, and more vibrant than ever before.

I really wanted to like this book...

Shaman Durek gets it right for the most part... I can’t argue much with what he says regarding spirituality. But the delivery is so self-righteous and condescending that I can barely tolerate listening to him. His over-dramatic performance is so off-putting.

I did force myself to listen to the entire thing, hoping to encounter a gem of learning that would make it all worth while. But the content is scattered and unorganized, making the process drudgery and the outcome disappointing. SKIP THIS BOOK. So many other books with a more respectful tone and fewer gratuitous F-words.

Dramatic presentation is distracting.

After listening to this I have found the presentation by the author to be very distracting. What could and should be a book of great content comes off as a theatrical display of frustrated acting school exercises. The content is repetitious and the tone is just too much to prevent me from finishing the book. I'm sure it's good for some people but it frustrated me.

Some good perspectives in there but almost couldn’t finish it

Goes on a lot about things he knows little to nothing about, but positions himself as an authority by saying “[such and such] IS A THING”. I don’t doubt that he is someone with practical shamanic tools who has garnered a lot of insight from his varied experiences with spirits, etc, but at the end of the day he is human and not all-knowing.

I was kind of disappointed

Too dramatic reading for me personally.
Some good tips, mostly it’s a book on the authors personal stories.
This is not a good book for people looking for advanced spiritual tips.

This book is a joke.

This guy is clearly a liar and scammer. He also talks like a valley girl but I digress. It’s as simple as this... If you’re a divine messenger and you’re doing all this important work that’s meant to save humanity from “the darkness,” why am I paying for this book? If you’re so holy... so in tune with the “spirits”.... so righteous... why are you making people pay for events? Shouldn’t everyone have a chance to become enlightened, etc? It would be free to distribute your message via the internet. Instead you choose to snap Instagram pictures with Gwenyth Paltrow and try and sell your bullshit to first world people without any real problems. You can be Tony Robbins or you can be Buddha... you can’t be both. This guy is a sociopath.

Definitely worth a listen

There are many observations in this book that are enlightening and some.of the spirit hacks really seem as if they would be useful. It would be great if there was a recap of those at the end or if the audible technology afforded a way to collect the details of each ritual so it could be accessed separately (I know I'm not going to go back thru the entire book to find them and then create lists of materials but if that existed I might use it).

Regarding the tone and content, some of the author's assumptions (that all doctors prescribing medication get giant kickbacks) are overblown or inaccurate. Just as judging a shaman for living in the Hollywood Hills is small-minded, so are many of the judgemental absolutes he puts forward about how ALL of some aspect of humanity is ONE way. (Usually bad). The notion that we all collectively create reality is true but his solutions (dream bigger, don't litter, hug the right way) really don't solve those problems. I pick up other people's litter and the littering just continues. I may do everything "right" by his terms and yet the world is still a mess. So what then? While I appreciate the remarks on fake spirituality and the shallowness of certain pervasive trends, too much energy is spent bashing fakery, and not enough on deeper journeys of the self. The examples of how certain clients were helped (the financial wizard who was miserable comes to mind) by his process are the most helpful as are the passages on alignment. I suppose I was hoping to hear things I hadn't heard before (the matrix is evil, government doesn't protect us, etc.) and more traction in the takeaways. But instead, I remember very little of the positive techniques I was hoping to gain. What resonates is a endless litany of how awful we are, which I do not believe was the author's intent. But you should decide for yourself.

LIFE CHANGING AND UNIQUE

I’ve read over 50 books on self-help/spirituality ranging from Eckhart Tolle to the Dalai Lama but I can say with the utmost confidence this is the best of the best.

Shaman Durek is one of the most special humans on this planet today. His message is SO MUCH STRONGER than being present or living in the now. He does not spend hours preaching meditation or mindfulness, instead, he offers unique wisdom that will instantly shake your outlook on life.

This book can change the world. I can’t imagine anyone reading this book and ever being the same.

If you are like me and have read all the spiritual gurus with little life improvement, I would recommend hopping on the lit train with Shaman Durek.

Better on paper

I really liked what this book was about, but it’s hard to listen to the story because of the amount of drama portrayed makes it hard to focus on what is being said. Definitely recommend the hard copy of the book!

Very mixed feelings

I downloaded this book for a 6hr train ride so when I started it, after boarding the train, I felt a bit trapped. The train has WiFi but not download quality WiFi. Once I was 6 hours in I was committed despite reservations but honestly if I hadn't been trapped I would never have made it that far. I came to genuinely appreciate the message of this book, but the delivery was painful. My vocabulary does not include words like 'lit', 'lit train', 'bobble heads' or 'pop rocks' and it was incredibly hard to take a book promising depth seriously with these words or phrases repeated constantly. If you can get past the delivery there is some wisdom though. Trigger warning to anyone not comfortable hearing the 'everything happens for a reason' concept applied to childhood sexual assault.

Great paperback read only

The book itself is really good but the audiobook was terrible. I wish I had listened to the clip prior to buying it. I let someone borrow my paperback and assumed the audio was a faster cheaper way to finish the material. I was very wrong.

Thought provoking and practical.

This book has shifted so much for me! My fav hack is asking the darkness for its message and asking it if it’s ready to be taken to the light. This has been so powerful, healing and beautiful.
