Good listen for a factual and unbiased view

Informative

I listened to this book to prep for a trip to Spain. It is very informative. But because it is short, it is also very dense. Its not a book you can passively listen to and absorb all the information. I needed to take a break after each chapter and supplement with YouTube videos, wikipedia, etc. to understand the complex history. The book does a good job up through the death of Queen Isabella in 1504. But after that the history is cursory at best. However, it does provide a framework for deeper dives from other sources.

the history of Spain was pretty interesting, for the most part. the parts that dulled me, might go over better with another read through

the Basques was by far the better of the 2, n I would surely love to read a more indepth history

I love that this book goes all the way back!

This history includes prehistoric Spain and the Neanderthals. So complete and well researched. So interesting.

Great book!!!

This audio book is very well performed. The reading was clear and set at a steady easy to listen pace. Additionally, Spanish History is well written. It begins with the prehistoric period and proceeds through the Roman period, Visigoth period and the Moorish period very nicely. The book then moves onto the Spanish Empire, its decline, and the Fascist dictatorship. This book ends with the modern day and Spain’s newly found democracy. This book is an incredible tale of a fascinating culture and country. I highly recommend this book to all reading levels. This is a great primer or a great re-cap for those already well steeped in Spanish history. I loved listening to this book. I was at the edge of my seat and found it hard to stop listening once I started. I highly recommend this audio book.

Terrible, I can't finish

Terrible. I am an hour in and bored to tears. History is so much more than battles. The author has gone directly from a bad explanation of pre-history to Cartheginians vs Romans without a bit of explanation on how they all arrived there. This is not worth listening to.

Don't bother

This was so poorly written. it reminded me of a study guide for a high school history class.
