They took the wrong girl. Now Mercer is coming for blood.

Shocked by the impending fall of Kabul, Mercer pulls whatever strings he has left to get to Afghanistan to extract his former Ranger platoon interpreter and his family. But when a rogue paramilitary organization abducts Altair’s daughter, Mercer won’t stop until he finds her and puts down those responsible.

But there is something far more sinister at play. Mercer learns this is not a random kidnapping and that Aya is one of many Pashtun girls taken to satisfy the perverse delight of the international elite.

From Taliban-infested Kabul to a private island in the Caribbean, Mercer must wage a war no one will acknowledge to be the savior Aya desperately needs. As the stakes climb higher and higher, Mercer fights not only for Aya’s future, but for his own.

By USA Today and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author John Lovell and acclaimed military thriller author Harrison Kone comes a new hard-hitting, high-stakes thriller where an unspeakable evil meets an immoveable hero.

All I can say is well done. Narrator quickly settled in and was locked throughout. The plot twists, human connection, and spiritual truths woven throughout the narrative are excellent. Even the tongue and cheek references to the War Poet gear, characters with elite backgrounds loving poetry and being theologically grounded, and the gear geek explanations of the kits and equipment are endearing if you’re aware on Lovell and War Poet Society.

I caught the quick YouTube short by John simply saying check this out as it’s not getting pushed by the normal places, and I am glad I did. Absolutely worth the price for the entertainment.

Yet beyond that, as the author’s share, this book is about stirring in its listeners a desire to make a difference on a very real evil this world faces. The most vulnerable, the least of us, need help. What a great call to action to whatever manner we might be able to help.

Finally, as a Christian man in no way directly connected to the authors other than shared beliefs and an appreciation for the mindset of pushing men toward the fullness of what we’re called to be, I firmly believe this book to be a gift to the world today. A gift given, dare I say, by God Himself as He sheds light on a topic that grieves His heart. The moments in the book describing the characters interacting with Jesus in their moments of desperation and the divine assurance they experience regardless of what they’re experiencing is as factual of a statement as can be written about walking with the Lord.

I believe the effort of the three to bring this story to life was nothing short of an act of obedience. To that I’m sure you will hear “well done my good and faithful servants.” Thank you for this book.

<as an aside this is the only book review I’ve ever written, it just needed to be said>

A True Gift to Our World

Great story, faith based. Just what we need in society today. Big fan of Warrior Poet Society, and John - excellent work!

Awesome!

The story addresses a real issue that is happening all around us today. It’s not another nuclear war threat or terror cell but an actual real world problem that has never been addressed. Those are definitely the strengths of the book.

It did make me laugh a few times that John Lovell put some product placement ads right in the middle of the story repping his warrior poet pistol and other warrior poet gear. Didn’t distract from the story but made me laugh. I’m not sure why he didn’t throw in some training from warrior poet Society as well. Haha.

Real scenario, nothing grandiose, but gritty

This is a great story of good triumphing over evil, especially when it's inconvenient. Looking forward to the next book.
