David Rivers is an elite-level assassin. He’s an expert in the art of violence. Honing his skill first as a Ranger, then as a mercenary, and now as a CIA contractor conducting covert action around the world.

But in his secluded mountain home in Virginia, David Rivers lives a double life. There, Rivers is known as a caring husband to his new wife and the doting father to his young daughter. Soft targets to his enemies.

Half a world away, on a mission to assassinate a foreign operative, Rivers uncovers his worst fear. An imminent attack on US soil will occur in four days. The target is in his hometown. And his wife and daughter are mentioned by name.

Enjoyed this book and the interlocking twist and turns. The fact that it took place on many different continents and cultures was wonderful. I was hooked though out story.

Super book

This book was okay. At times it was had to follow. It seemed to go from 3rd to 1st person

Okay

Lead ‘hero’ was a little whiny about his family. After a while it got moving along and kept a good pace. Ending has a lot of luck to it. Worth a listen.

Story was ok

This thriller (as in all types of these books) takes you with high volume up to its most latest minutes.
Written good and working on a different angle - bad guys don't always have to be the Arabs although they are connected as well.
The book is written well and narration does a work.
I enjoyed this book until it came the time in which I didn't want to stop listening.

Fast pace thriller.

Narrator was terrible…made me want to stop listening, luckily it was a great book to get through his monotone voice

Great book…terrible narrator

Very disappointed in the character who was supposed to be the “hero”. Instead of rusting for he I disliked him the farther into the book I got. He was a jerk to everyone on his team and totally self centered around himself. Berating his teammates because he only cared about his own personal issues. The rest of the team outshined him in and their commitment to fighting the bad guys and being a team. Had the potential to be a good series but I won’t continue with because I don’t care for the main character.

The supposed hero was a jerk

As far as the story goes (no spoilers), it had some good parts and decent action. The whole family targeting thing was never fully explained. In hindsight it seemed to be more of an authors convenience to move the story around from country to country (I'm being ambiguous on purpose) .
The narrator grew on me, but it took a while to warm up to him. He's a bit dry at times. Just a bit more conviction at being a badass would be welcome. Otherwise, he was pretty good.
Generally a fun ride and I'll be checking out another to see how the series evolves.

some loose ends and odd non-leader personality traits

The narrator was a bit flat emotionless not really imparting any of the feeling of the characters that well. Though his voices for each were distinct.

Good story keeping me interested. Only thing that was a bit distracting was when the main character would start talking in first person at seemingly random points in a chapter.
Not sure the characters were strong enough for a series.

Not bad but could be better.

This could be non-fiction!
A great storyline that flowed well and had believable characters.
First time listening to this narrator and enjoyed the way he told the story!
Five stars!

A great story that could be real!
