Story
When a marketing rep comes into your office or someone from the management team and tells you to "sell the value", how often do you find yourself rolling your eyes? As a former agency owner and now a consultant, I often find myself spouting the same slogan. Why? Because, I have done it and done it quite successfully. Whenever a rep came into my office and told me to sell the value of carrier X, I would think that’s something an expensive company would say or an overpriced company, because what else could they say?

To be clear, this audiobook is not about the typical garbage peddled by most insurance agents. Rather, an alternative to the risky investment strategies taught by Wall Street. It details a highly efficient form of cash value life insurance designed to supercharge your savings and stockpile wealth.

Change is coming to insurance. The tradition-bound P&C industry is on the cusp of the most radical change since the invention of the automobile. And leaders are unprepared for the size, scale, and speed of what's to come from the wave of millennials, new technology, and venture capital funding coming our way. Insurance has been largely immune to upheavals for reasons that startups do not comprehend. But this time is truly different. Forces have been unleashed that will upend the industry sooner than you think.

Struggling to turn your agency into a business? This book was written for agents by an agent and with a slightly more academic slant than my other sales books. Most of this information is grounded in practical trial and error and backed by data and proven methodologies. I wrote this audiobook not for fun or for my health. I wrote this book out of necessity to transform my own insurance agency into an actual business. When I first applied for a small business loan through the EDC, I got an education really quick as to what I didn't know about what I didn't know.

Reason for a Low Rating
I downloaded the audible book. I didn't like that the author kept referring to his samples are available if we bought the hard copy book. Sadly, we are in 2019. Most people never buy a hard copy. We choose to listen to books. Offer a website to download each sample. Or provide your email so you can send all the samples you have of a business plan, job descriptions, etc.
The author also has a captive agent point of view and talks bad about independent Agents. The author talks about hiring 4 extra people when you first start your business. But doesn't talk about agents who cannot afford to hire anyone. He speaks from the Farmers Insurance playbook. Not from the reality of a small independent insurance agency.

Good info but very biased
Mr. Hastings tries to make a case that captive agents somehow provide better quality than independent agents. However, that's far from what I have seen over the many years in the industry. Independent agents thrive because they are solely focused on the customer whereas a captive is solely focused on the one company it sells for. You will not find better service than from a successful independent agent.

This book contains a myriad of good advice for potential and current insurance agents. It also offers guidelines to follow as well as sources of outside reference. Although the without references P&C insurance and I am a L&H agent I can still relate to much if this book.
