Publisher's summary
All of London is abuzz over the imminent arrival of Wulfric Bedwyn, the reclusive, cold-as-ice Duke of Bewcastle, at the most glittering social event of the season. Some whisper of a tragic love affair. Others say he is so aloof and passionless that not even the greatest beauty could capture his attention. But on this dazzling afternoon, one woman did catch the duke's eye - and she was the only female in the room who wasn't even trying.
Christine Derrick is intrigued by the handsome duke...all the more so when he invites her to become his mistress. What red-blooded woman wouldn't enjoy a tumble in the bedsheets with a consummate lover - with no strings and no questions asked. An infuriating lady with very definite views on men, morals, and marriage, Christine confounds Wulfric at every turn. Yet even as the lone wolf of the Bedwyn clan vows to seduce her any way he can, something strange and wonderful is happening. Now for a man who thought he'd never lose his heart, nothing less than love will do.

Excellent Regency Romance
I'm a fan of Regency romances, I enjoy listening to them but they all tend to blur together in my mind afterwards. I normally don't listen to them one unless it comes highly recommended, which was the case with Slightly Dangerous by Mary Balogh. One of my favorite authors, Lucy Parker, was very enthusiastic in recommending this Pride and Prejudice retelling, and I have to thank her for it because I stayed up until early morning to read this in one go. I was hooked right from the time Christine meets Wulfric! Actually I was laughing so hard. Christine is a smart heroine who is just so vibrant and full of life, a very pleasant character to read about. And she takes the dark and broody Duke of Bewcastle completely by surprise. I really enjoyed how Mary Balogh took elements of Pride and Prejudice but made the story completely her own. Had so much fun reading this book. Highly recommended for historical romance readers and fans of Jane Austen retellings.
Rosalyn Landor is fantastic with the delivery of the story

The things we do for love
The duke was never the man heroine wanted and by insisting she needs someone with certain criteria he was forced to become someone she admired. The heroine was adorable and at the same time her character was unrealistic. To refuse a duke so many times when she was so in love was not something I can see as realistic. The story reminded me somewhat of Pride and Prejudice. Except that she was not silly in her request in that book. I really like Mary Balogh but her repetitive nature in her books is tiresome. At points in this story I just want to say move on. I get it. Her marriage before was not good and he was jealous. Now can we get to another point???! If all the repetitive point are removed and the reasoning for her refusal got a bit more realistic then the story was actually very entertaining. My apologies to MB and her admirers for any insult but these reviews are not for popularity contests and I need to be true to my followers.

The Unforgettable Bedwyns
The only sad thought of these books are that there are no more siblings to write about. Their personalities are so great, humorous, strong willed, strong tempered and just plain fun. I hope Mary Balogh will continue with their off spring and create more stories of romance. Aunts and uncles could be in the mix of fostering or impeding their nieces and nephews romances.
The narrator Rosalyn Landor is the best narrator of all the narrators that I have heard. She is incredible with the ease of how she differentiates characters voices. I sometimes see her name as narrator and choose that book because I love her narration.

Best book in the series
Any additional comments?
I loved it!!! In this book the Duke reminds me a great deal of Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. I liked the Duke character all through the books in this series and was glad to finally listen to a book about him. All the Duke's brother/sister/in laws from previous books are in this book too, but it still works as a stand alone book,
The female lead (Christine) got on my nerves a few times, I would rather see her as more refined, but I still liked her. I am in love with the Duke. He is a fantastic character. The story is told from both Christine's and the Duke's point of view, which gives a better feel for their characters and their thoughts. Nothing major happens because the story is about the relationship between Christine and the Duke growing from first sight of one another and forward to the end. Really a great story.

Delightfully damaged characters ending a series
Wulfric's story is the one we all waited for. I took back one star for our heroine's protesting beyond the point of sense (no spoiler, I won't say what she's refusing to do). But loved that she leaps before she looks, spills, rips, tears, falls, and generally isn't your usual heroine at all. Definitely a girl I could relate to.
Finally, finally we get an explanation of Wulfric's frozen demeanor and ducal behavior even to his family. He goes from iceberg to...well, making sense at last while staying true to character. Plus some real surprises that are also true to character. Love it when a hero can go from scary frigid to sympathetic in the course of a book.
I'm being a bit vague, but I don't want to spoil it for others. The narrator is awesome and I totally lost myself in the story without ever noticing the narrator once things began, which to me is the mark of greatness. Kudos!
If there was a way to give partial stars, this would honestly be a 4 3/4 as I suspect the author could have kept the conflict cranked without resorting that one last time too many. Regardless, I bought this the minute I could and you won't be sorry if you do.

The series ends on high.
This is one of the author's better series, though I can't say every book was a favourite. I will say they all had an compelling story and worked well singly, but better in order.
The Duke have seen all his siblings happily if not advantageously married. Finds he has time on his hands and a new chapter of his life to start. Both the heroine and hero are forced to reassess what they wanted from life. Also find out truths about themselves, neither character is diminish but grow to appreciate each other.
I hate it when you find a good series, then last book is a totally disappointment. Have no fear this is good to tha last page and the supporting characters remain solid.

Very Fitting and Enjoyable!
A very fitting way for the series to conclude, with the Duke finally easing into his skin with the release of his family obligations. You see also the culmination of all of his astuteness in reading people and situations (and this time, for his shared benefit).
I enjoyed this tale, but not as much as the first 2. However, in my opinion, books 1, 2 & 6 are the best! The female characters were written much more credibly.
I haven’t read any of the intermittent novellas, but if there is one after this, I may do so. I shall also try more of Ms Balogh’s work.

Don’t let the silly titles put you off- this is a fabulous series. And Wolf’s love story is wonderful. Enjoy!

An odd couple but magically brought together
I liked the characters of Wulfric and Christine so much! I think there is still a lot to tell about the Bedwyn family. With such diverse characters, and the other related characters from Miss Martin’s School for Young Ladies. It’s a magical world of humour, romance and lusty bedding. All elements handled with a light touch. I beg Ms Balogh to continue to tell us about the relationships as they mature. And tell the tales of the next generation.

Loved
I loved this one, the best of the Bedwyn series. Didn’t want it to end. So sad it’s all over. Rosalyn Landor’s narration is perfection, so beautiful.

Loving the Bedwyns!
I really liked the story of Christine and Wulf and felt them to be an interesting and well-matched couple. However, I did find Christine’s thought process in the later chapters rather annoying to the point where I thought Wulf either had the patience of a saint or was a huge sucker for punishment in persuing her when she continually turned him down and was rude to his face. But alas, this is a love story, he sweetly persists, they iron out the chinks and have a lovely HEA.
