Excellent narrator and story. The Proposal is my most favorite book of all by Mary Balogh. The characters and details made it feel as though you’re right there inside the book with them. 5 ⭐️s

I discovered Mary Balogh back in the late 80s or early 90s. I read every one of her books with one exception so I do have a good basis for my opinion. This has to be if not the most romantic book she's written, it's at least , no I think it is the most romantic. I have it in the Ebook and in Audible.i enjoyed the Audible version best.

One of Her Most Romantic

This introduction to The Survivors Club series is just delightful. Totally worth owning. I think this may be my 6th listen since I got it several years ago.

Great

It troubles me that I might have easily passed this title by in the multitude of romantic regency novels, as it is so lovely. The characters are understandable and bring out compassion, and yet the novel is still sexy. A++

Soo well written story. So much feeling I really love this series
This is the only book narratived by Rebecca in this series and that’s sad because she is an amazing reader!! Soo slow and languid.

Amazing narrator Rebecca

I absolutely love this and think it's one of Mary Balogh's best.

Honestly I wasn't expecting much since the publishing date is so far from the Bedwyn Saga, but apparently Mary Balogh is one of those writers who gets better as she goes along. I thought the writing of this was just spectacular. Crisp and sharp and focused, with little of the padding and repetition that sometimes mars her writing. I really enjoyed it.

The characters, especially Hugo, are wonderful! Real and three dimensional and deep. He really touched my soul. I just loved him. Every scene with Hugo is a delight. He is a dark, tormented hero, with a little bit of Lady Chatterley's Lover about him. I thought Gwen a bit less defined, at first, but she gains in depth as the story progresses.

It was so interesting to find themes of madness--bipolar disorder and PTSD among others--in a Romance book. They were done very very well.

I've come across a few clunkers by Mary Balogh recently but this has renewed my faith. Her good ones are so good. Now I have the rest of the series to look forward to!

Fabulous
