I did enjoy the story, though it was slow. Some things got on my nerves like the author repeating words like "slowly, slowly" and "very, very" etc. It was overall very good.

so happy I came across this author and will be adding her to my list of favorites! this story had it all, romance, intrigue, awesome characters, HUMOR (YAY) very nice SPICE level and adventure. everything I look for and crave! highly recommend it!

Good Story TERRIBLE Narrator
Truly the narrator has done 400 books with that fake, screeching voice. The only reason I finished was because of the mystery. At that it took me 3 weeks before I could stomach her voice. I could only speak air about an hour a day. My time is too precious to waste on such a narration. Truly there are great narrators but she is not one. Will not be buying the rest of the series.

One of the best romance authors I’ve read for so many reasons: characters, plot, world building and descriptions. The reader is perfect, capturing the subtleties of emotion/humor and harmonic writing style.

Fun adventure
This was a fun listen/read. I like an intrepid heroine who saves the hero’s life and for this alone I’m giving this a high rating. Colin is like every other Colin in historical romance— handsome, charming, funny, and just heroic enough for the female lead to fall in love with.
The sexytime at the barn was 🔥 and Justine Eyre’s narration reading was 👌.

I’m halfway through and couldn’t care less
I’m halfway through the chapters and the main characters have just barely started just actually talking to each other. I’m going to give it a little longer but I’m not invested.

Nice story but…
..it was pretty slow. I don’t think I could have finished it if I had to actually read it. Once you get half way through it does pick up and turns out to be a very nice story.
