Publisher's Summary
Will she need the man to keep her role as mom?
A heartbreaking bequest unexpectedly makes childless Maggie Howard a single mother. But if she can’t locate her late friend’s missing will, producing a rich, proud “papa” might be the only way to keep baby B.J. safely in her custody. Not that she needs the cash, of course, but she must convey an appearance of stability! And then, as luck would have it...in saunters sexy-as-sin, fun-loving new neighbor Nick McKenzie, with money and moxie enough for a short-term charade. His masculine tenderness instantly holds tiny B.J. spellbound. His brash sexuality rocks Maggie to her core.
The man and the child flood Maggie’s hungry heart with dreams of happily ever after - but will Nick’s suggestion of a supposedly makeshift marriage turn their newfound love, as well as their plan, into an out-and-out disaster?

Heartwarming!
When we start reading books like this, we know how it's going to end. We know there will be a Happily Ever After, and we crave it. We want to see how it'll happen, how love will come around, what obstacles the couple will face. We want to fall in love with the characters as they are falling for each other.
Barbara Catlin did a wonderful job in this one, as did the narrator Jim Cooper. Only reason I removed a star is because there were times in the beginning I couldn't tell who was speaking, but as I adjusted to his voice I started being able to tell when it was a female part in the dialogue.

A great romance story!
I really enjoyed listening to this book. The story was very sweet with a creative plotline. It was a little slow for me at times, or maybe they just misunderstood each other one too many times... Regardless, I enjoyed the story. The narrator did a great job as well, including successfully pulling off the female and male's parts. Shotgun Wedding is pretty much true to life except for the almost insta-love. I can imagine the stress Maggie was under loving BJ as she did and unable to find the proof she needed to keep her. Nick probably seemed an answer to prayer until she started to think more about it. The characterization was good and Jim Cooper did a good job portraying them.
I recieved a Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.

Sweet book
This was a very sweet book with a good hero and heroine, although i have to admit there were just some times during the book that I wanted to yell at them to stop misunderstanding each other or just come clean. Then again, i guess in real life, miscommunication is a key reason for arguments among couples!
The premise is cute- Nick gets to Maggie's house and she mistakenly thinks he is the actor that she hired to play her husband. She was recently given custody of a baby of her friend who recently passed and she thought she had a better chance of keeping the baby if she was married. Her pretend husband never showed and Nick, being kind of the good samaritan, stepped up to the plate. He was an awesome friend and later, boyfriend. He made a lot of mistakes when he didn't immediately come clean about some pretty important things but it all came from a good place. Maggie is a little more closed off and tended to view him skeptically and I didn't really like how she jumped to conclusions a lot of times but the author always had both the characters own their mistakes and have good conversations afterwards.
The narrator was very good. Good cadence, nice voice. Easy to listen to and he played the characters pretty well so it was always clear that he was representing different characters. I even borrowed the book on kindle unlimited so that I could read the book when I couldn't listen. I received the audio for an unbiased review and I have to say, I really enjoyed the book and will read more from this author.

Great Story & Listen🎧 4.5 Enjoyable Stars🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I adored this story, it original and full of heart. The storylines are interesting and well written, they captivated me from start to the very end. The characters are complex and well developed, they are realistic and relatable. I like both lead characters, Maggie and Nick. I loved how they first met, also loved the great chemistry between them. Maggie’s late friend left her custody of her of a 5 month old girl, Bobbie Jean, she needs to find the will to make her the legal guardian. Social services comes to check in on her and gives her time to find the will to prove it is what the baby’s mother wanted. To better her chances with social services she was going to hire an actor to play her husband. But that plan goes array, she assumed her neighbor, Nick, was that actor and with no time to spare got him to cooperate with the woman from social service. I loved Nick’s willingness to help and how great he was with the baby. Nick really liked Maggie but she had some serious hangups and trust issues so she was not making it easy for him. I loved how it all played out and highly recommend this book, in addition to the great characters there is drama, a bit of angst and whole lot of romance. A few laugh out loud moments too, loved Nick’s scene, the first time taking care of BJ and his list, it was hilarious. Barbara Caitlin thank you for this great story!
I listened to the Audible edition, Jim Cooper is a wonderful narrator and voice performer. He brings the characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality as well as heart and attitude. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen🎧
