They're both going to turn the bequest down, clearly. It’s not like either of them could properly raise their kids or find love again in a backwater province like Birch Creek. But when things at home change dramatically - for both moms - they decide to give it a try...just for the summer.

Gail Shalan's voices crack me up

I've listened to the whole series and am back for a second run. I hope the author uses Gail Shalan for all of her future work. She makes listening to the whiney main character a joy, and all the other ages/genders perfectly believable.

Of course, the best narrator is only as good as the writing. The author is witty, skilled, and creative. One of my favorites.

loved this story, the setting - the ranch/landscape -, and the characters as well as the narration. Looking forward to Book 2.

Love everything about this story!!

My only dislike was that it ended before everything was wrapped up and answered -- the next book can't come out soon enough! I love stories that show the complications of life and how good people are doing the best they can. The love interests are 😍. And the drama of being a Mama is on the nose.

Good story and characters

Easy listening. No drama but an interesting story. Wish there was a male voice. Amanda took awhile to like but eventually came around. Wish it had an ending but I will listen to the next one for sure.

Great story

Loved this book and look forward to the next two. Great characters. My first by this author but don’t think it will be my last.

Love and Growth

I loved how the characters changed their opinions on living in the country and grew to love the ranch and eventually preferred it over city living

Great potential but falls short

This could have been a great story but it became simple and high school ish. I liked the idea of the situation but the characters were shallow and boring. I kept waiting for something exciting or meaningful to happen but no.
