Being raised in the foster system has made Kinley Taylor feel like a lifelong outcast, but it's witnessing a young girl's last few minutes on Earth that proves just how alone she truly is. Kinley has no one to turn to, no family, no friends...except perhaps the gorgeous Delta Force soldier she met months ago. The one she ignored when he'd tried to keep in touch, convinced he couldn't really be interested in a relationship.

When Kinley ghosts him not once, but twice, Gage "Lefty" Haskins takes the hint. Clearly the pretty personal assistant didn't feel the same connection he did. Or so he assumes...until she shows up in Texas, on the run for her life after already surviving an assassination attempt. Lefty couldn't turn her away even if he wanted to - and he doesn't. The longer he knows her, the greater the connection he feels. He just has to keep Kinley alive long enough to convince her she's The One.

Easier said than done, when the man who wants her dead has friends in high places...and a very patient hit man on retainer.

Shielding Kinley is the second book in the Delta Team Two Series. Each book is a standalone, with no cliffhanger endings.

NOTE: The word "expect" in the first paragraph was changed to "except".

Shielding Kinley is one of those listens that you can do while easily doing other things. It will keep you listening. It had good detailing introducing Kinley and Gage, then the situation before throwing the danger in. There is really good buy in to the story and characters.

I thought it was sweet that Gage already called Kinley by Kins from the very start. She was so introverted and admitted to herself that she just didn’t know how to interact. Kinley was amazing in her strength. The story didn’t pull any punches in how smart Kinley was about her situations or saving her from danger at the last moment. I appreciated the reality of everything.

Virgina Rose did a great job bringing the story to life. She blended all of the voices together smoothly. She was able to voice Gage without being over the top. None of the male voices sounded girly. I could always tell who was talking. She was able to bring the tension and emotion forward when it was called for. I enjoyed listening to Ms. Rose narrator.

While this is part of a series, it is a stand alone. A lot of the guys names get thrown in at the start, but it’s not necessary to really pay attention to them. I do get a kick out of the cameo appearance by Tex in all of the books. Shielding Kinley doesn’t disappoint.

I really liked Kinley and Gage

When Kinley crawled to the road despite her injuries made me cry and ache for her. I really love Tex and his ability to do the impossible for his men.
